Title: Glowhill or Crisolin lines?
Post by: Leah on March 16, 2007, 01:35:30 PM
Just trying to tie up a few loose ends!  Wondering whether these 2 lines are still represented in modern cockers?

Glowhill, definitely, I personally don't know the other.

Chrisolin is no longer an active Cocker kennel. Probably the most famous dog from that line was Sh Ch Chrisolin Cambiare of Styvechale who is behind many particolour Cockers today if you go back far enough (he was born in 1974)

Yep my orange roan bitch, born in 1988, had him as her gt++ grandad.  He was black and white, an Australian champion

Cambiare never went to Australia but his father did (Scolys Strike Lucky) ;) We have him in most of our pedigrees too.

... and many unicolour Cockers. My bitch is black and she has Chrisolin Cambiare of Syvechale behind in her pedigree.  ;)

I understood that Cambiare came from Australia - will see if I can find my book with that info .......  Leah had 'Harwen' in there as well as 'Fieldend'.

My friend's orange roan dog has Crisolin What Larks as GtGt+++ with a lot of Weirdene and Colinwood  in there, same dogs used lots of times on both sides  I love searching

I hadn't heard he was Australian - I'm pretty sure Chrisolin was a UK affix & his breeding is certainly all British as far as I know :-\

Our very first Cocker had Harwenprince & Fieldend too. Doris Young (Fieldend) is still around but Harwenprince is long gone.

My first Cocker (1972) had Glowhill (his mum was Glowhill Midnight Blue) & Harwenprince in his pedigree.  I think he also had Scollys (or Scolys) but that might have been my second Cocker (they were distantly related).  I can't get my hands on their pedigrees at the moment because they are in my spare room which is packed with junk pending my bedroom remodelling
