I am just about ready to flea Hattie and seeing as were going to Scotland shortly i was wondering what is the best flea and tick deterrant. At the moment we just use frontline.
-
Well we are currently using Prac-tic here as recommended to us by the vet over our usual treatments, we have a working Springer and find that due to the environments she goes in Prac Tic seems to give the best results.

I was going to suggest stamping on them but see thats not quite the angle you were looking for :005:

:005:My type of humour :lol2:

Loads of people seem to recommend the Billy No Mates. Never used it on the girls but I might now.
-
If you don't already have one, I'd recommend getting an O'Tom (pack of 2) to take with you.
-
If you don't already have one, I would reccomend getting an OH :005: It's the easiest and fastest way to get rid of ticks.
Step 1: Spot tick
Step 2: Say "Ewwwww" while wrinkling your nose
Step 3: Hand doggy to OH
See? Problem solved in 3 easy steps... It's like magic :003:

That would be my preferred way too!!

On the other hand, they ARE more high maintenance than the other suggestions. :lol2:

Thanks for your replies,
I have got a O tom and a oh, so may go with that option. :005:

Now why would you want to get rid of Mr Sheryl :005:

We use frontline but were recommended by a vet in the Lakes on a recent visit that if we are to frequent places where ticks are prevalent to use a deterrent such as Advantix. Havent tried it yet though!
-
I use Advantix on the girls when they go in kennels because they are walking in sheep parks ::)
-
Have used frontline _13 ticks after one walk
Moved onto Advantix - 6 ticks each after one walk earlier this year
Now on Billy No Mates and yes we are still picking ticks off on a fairly regular basis but there is fewer of them (only been using it 4 weeks) and their coats are so soft and even Kooki's dragon slayer breath is improving.
I have yet to find a product I would swear by but BNM and an O-tom seems to be working for me.... Now if I could only get something to sort out the OH he came back from walking last weekend and I had to take 7 ticks off him lol
