I have finally persuaded My OH to have Bailey castrated. He goes in next Thursday morning and before if there is a cancellation.
I hope Im doing the right thing. I have no plans to breed him, Lulu is 5.5 months old and I dont want her coming to any harm either.........Im trying to convince myself Ive made right decision
-
hello,
my ozzy had it done 2 weeks ago. i spoke to friends who assured me it was the right thing to do, as i had no plans to breed,
he was very good although cried for the first evening (think he was trying to make me feel guilty ) but was back his normal cheeky self the next day! :D
the only thing was the wonderful collar he had to wear, he kept running into me and my legs are covered in bruises!! :lol2:
xx

thanks, OH never wanted him done but I do for 3 reasons.
1 He 'leaks' almost every day a small amount of fluid and Im forever cleaning
2 Im thinking prevention of testicular cancer in the future
3 Lulu is only 5 months old and dont want to take any risks if she gets pregnant by him, she will be spayed soon too.
Ive read all sorts of posts on here, and tried to make an informed decision. OH thinks Im cruel ph34r wanting Bailey done I think. Im thinking whats best for dogs.
-
i have too agree that i think its best for dogs,
the majority of people i spoke to agreed, altho i know a lot of people would disagree!!
in our case the pros def outweiged the cons x
-
Many men seem to think it's wrong :shades:
Anthromorphism methinks ;)

Think I just need to hear Im doing the right thing :-\
Opinions please

You have already read all the threads about pros and cons so you are well informed. You have made the decision based on your own personal circumstances. It has to be right for you and your household. Hope all goes well next week :D

Jay was done at 11 months old, he has been so much better for having it done, he was a serial dog humper and it drove us mad. Duggie was done before xmas as this was part of the conditions of him being re-homed to us, but to be honest his interest in the ladies was showing. They are still both as loopy as ever and nothing has changed. Had to laugh at Lounozzy's post cause that happened to us, the collar kept catching our legs too and he kept banging into things.
Bailey will be fine, don't worry :D! Let us know how you get on.
-
Thanks everyone...........we dont half worry about our dogs and whether we make right decisions for them :luv:

The little boy we've recently got back, now called Harry, was neutered on Thursday, he was very sleepy all day, I slept downstairs on the settee while he slept off the GA, 4am he was wide awake jumped on my chest nearly gave me a heart attack, he's shown no signs of discomfort since, you would never know he had just had an op, the only problem I have is keeping him still :005:
Harry is 14 months old.
-
I had my boy done last year, he was in a bit of discomfort for a couple of days - but after that he was fine. I bought him a Comfy Collar to wear after the op.

just left Bailey at vets to be done. Very stressed cause he hates the vets ph34r
They are not going to put him in a cage as he has never been in one thank goodness. He will be in
a room with a baby gate on and he will be able to see people which Im glad about.
While I was there a lady had had her dog PTS and was so so upset, I nearly walked out cause I was so upset for her poor soul.
Lulu is wandering around the house and garden right now looking for Bailey, god I feel awful, roll on 2pm when I can go and get him :luv:
-
We dropped Harry off at 10am and was told to ring at 2pm, midday we had a call to say he was wide awake, had had something to eat and was ready to come home, he wasn't complaining, just ready to go!
-
Just rang vets and they said Bailey was in recovery. He is fine and I can pick him
up at 2.10pm. So glad he's ok. Got him some treats for when he comes home :luv:
-
awww so pleased everything went well x
-
Hope everything is going well
-
Hope he's ok.................sending lots of love and positive thoughts his way. :luv: :luv:
-
Good to hear he was fine after his little procedure, hope he isn't in too much discomfort tomorrow.
When we had Charlie done, we got a call from the vets after 3 hours asking us to pick him up as he was howling and crying the place down. He then continued to cry and howl for the rest of the day, nothing would pacify him. OH joked it was his way of telling us we were very nasty Mummy and Daddy for taking him to have it done. >:D

:luv:
my ozzy was good as gold at the vets, but cried from the moment he saw me until i turned the light off to sleep!! :005:
it was def his way of telling me xx

Bailey is good, bit sulky and feeling sorry for himself last night but ok today, eating and drinking well. Vet said he was getting stressed after op but put it down to being away from us and in a strange environment.
Lulu missed him all day :luv:
