Title: advice needed excessive drinking
Post by: Ian Wright on March 23, 2011, 09:10:25 PM
Grace has not stopped drinking for the last 1/2 hour she has been sick once. she seems OK in herself. The OH did give her some gammon which was a bit salty. I know she should not of had it.  would you put the drinking down to this or something else

Thanks Ian

To me it seems like too much of a coincidence to be anything but the salty gammon causing the thirst. When she was sick was it the gammon reappearing or water from drinking so much? Being sick can also cause dehydration of course, so that may make her even thirstier for a while.

Can you phone your vet for advice? Hopefully she will just get over it in a short while, but I don't know if too much salt can cause anything worse than excessive thirst, so best to check with your vet I think.

Hope she's OK soon, poor girlie :luv:

Sounds like it could be the gammon - it is very salty  :-\  Is she OK otherwise?  I think I would give the vet a ring if she carries on  :-\

Hope she is OK and doesn't get you up for loads of weewees during the night  :005:

Thanks Elaine.  The sick was Gammon and not water. I thought it was a comanation of been sick and the Gammon too. I will be keeping a very close eye on her. As i have to keep mopping the kitchen floor as she uses her paws to get the water out of the bowl then drink it of the floor

Yes she is OK otherwise. I think i have some puppy training pads left from when she was young. I will put one by her crate  ;)

It's probably a good thing that she's got rid of the gammon. Hope she feels better soon :D
