I was just wondering if dogs can eat human seafood sticks, my first thought would be yes and I gave Willow a bit the other day to taste and she seemed to love it, I know they are low in calories and fat so today I gave her one mixed up with her dinner. I then looked at the ingredients (prob should have done this first) this is what they contain,
surimi, wheat starch, humectant, sorbitol, salt, sugar, rice wine, crab extract and seasoning, soya bean oil, egg white powder colours, cochineal and capsanthin.
It wasnt until after I thought I know dogs are not meant to have some sweetners and sorbitol is a sweetner! Can someone remind me again please which are to be avoided? Also with the salt and sugar I wouldnt give in huge amounts or very often. Could she have them again as a treat or should I not give them to her again?
Thanks Maddy :D

its the sweetener that begins with 'xy' that dogs react badly too .. xylotil??
The only other comment I have is about the salt content, but as you say it's a treat only and you're not exactly going to feed her 10 a day, so I'd say as a treat they would be fine :)

It is Xylitol that is toxic to dogs ;)

Although with those ingredients I would not be keen on feeding them to my dog - or me for that matter. Pity as I quite like them ph34r :005:

Thanks Joules.
I know what you mean re the ingredients, ive just started a new diet and they are a free food, I never look at the ingredients of what I put into my own body but so careful what I put into Willows :005:
Thank you for the link too.
