Hi There

I noticed a tick on my Louie's eyebrow late last night so straight on line to order my o-tom.  Anyway he has been fine all day then an hour later I looked and his eye lid had swollen up and looked like he had done 5 rounds with Mike Tyson!  I immediately gave him some piriton to try to help with the swelling.  By the time I had seen it I darted out to try to buy a o-tom but none of the local shops were open and the other shop didn't have one.  Fortunately I asked a friend who had one so she came straight round and we managed to get it out fully as it was running off to find another host!!!!!!! ph34r  But his eye is still swollen and looks a bit red.  I has gone down a bit, but I was wondering if this is normal for the site to swell up as he has had a tick bite before but never on his eye and it didn't swell up last time.  Also, when can I give him his next dose of antihistamine?  He has had 2.5ml once today.  He weighs about 22kg.

He seems OK in himself, just keeps trying to scratch his head.  On another subject, poor Louie has a sore dew claw too as he seemed to have caught it the other night on his run and wont let me touch it.  It hasn't bled at all it just seems sore to touch.  Ive put a bandage around it to stop him licking - which has stopped him but wanted to know how long it might take to heal? ( He had to go to the vets only recently with his other one and they gave him antibiotics as it got infected but this time it is not).

My poor baby is really going through it at the moment but he is such a good boy and NEVER complains or makes a fuss! :luv:

Jarvis reacts to tick bites and I don't usually give him anything, they go away after 3 or 4 days

you can see one here between his left eye and his ear

I would give him another dose tonight before bed time and see how he goes.

22kgs - he's a big boy isn't he!!

Milo had a severe allergic reaction to a tick this year. His paw was twice the thickness and he was really under the weather , not eating. That time I took him to the vet who put him on antibiotics. She said the tick spot treatment was no good for him and so he is wearing a tick and collar all summer.I have to say though, he is still getting ticks and at the site it does come up very swollen. But it does go down in a day or so.Out here in Belgium the ticks are awful.xx

Thank you so much all.  This picture looks exactly like louies eye!  Its in exactly the same place :-)  I know he is a big boy his mum was a working cocker and so he has the long legs :-)  But we are trying to get his weight down, its going well as everytime we have a weigh in he is losing!

Really appreciate you coming back to me.  I love this site so much it really is a fantastic place to get knowledge from.
