Prit-stick
« on: March 22, 2011, 01:19:58 PM »
Hello,

Not been around for a while but I could do with some advice.

Lilah is a little muncher. The immediate problem is that I was winding up my prit-stick and the top bit (with the glue in) popped off as it was nearly empty. She swooped in and in the time it took me to grab her and open her mouth it had been swallowed. It's the plastic bit full of pritstick that she's swallowed. Will she be ok?

The longer term problem is how on earth do we stop her eating everything?
The list from the last few weeks includes three pairs of shoes, gravel, stones, poo (we are scrupulous at picking up but I caught her eating Griff's poo as he did it  :020:), paracetamol, my friend's packed lunch and any number of garden plants.  >:D

We tell her "leave it" and replace with a treat but we don't always find her as she eats it, just the evidence afterwards. Obviously we try to keep everything off the floor but there's odd occasions where we forget or manages to pull something off the side. Any ideas or advice?

Thanks,
Carys

Just spoken to the vet about the immediate pritstick problem and he's fairly sure that the glue won't poison her and the cartridge will pass through.

Oh dear, naughty Lilah :o  Hopefully, after a spot of 'toilet patrol' the offending article will pass through OK :005:  Hope she's OK!
Both taken away from us far too soon. x  RIP Angels Odie & Archie, causing mayhem at the Rainbow, no doubt!

I'm sure the vet's right - Prit Stick is designed for kids so shouldn't be harmful. As for the placcy bit - poo-watch I'm afraid  ;)

Prit stick is water soluble I think.

Paracetamol though??  ph34r    That is very dangerous.  Eight tablets can kill a person let alone a little dog.

With respect to shoes etc all I can say is that having a puppy in the house again has made us all a lot tidier!  And garden plants, well we just make sure there is nothing that is toxic.  We tried to grow runner beans last year - Jess treated that as a snack bar so it was rather wasted effort.
