all the puppies together in the boot! but i fell in love and didnt care by that stage! naughty i know but what can you do eh 

ohhhhhh Nikki I know when you see that cute little cocker face it would be the hardest thing in the world to turn away, but sadly the minute you hand your money over to people who sell pups in this way you are encouraging them to do it time and time again, as the pups are no more than pound signs to them , think about it Nikki, wouldn't you want to give a pup the very best possible start, a clean, warm, secure enviroment,  not in the boot of a car , these people know how to play on your heart strings Nikki, I mean..who wouldnt love a face like Millies

I have learned so much from COL and one of the best things I can do from what I now know is pass on the information I have gained to others, please dont take what people say on here as a critism Nikki, that is not how it is meant, the people here mean only to help, if not you then others who may read this thread and think it ok to do the same.

It's a hard one, this.

I've often wondered what I would do if offered a puppy farm dog. Only because it would have already been born, and I know that I would give it the best home I could manage. I would, in effect, be saving it from going to a bad home wouldn't I?

On the other hand, if these puppy farmers couldn't sell their pups they would surely stop breeding them. This might result in some "lost" puppies, but it would be for the greater good, I guess. Or am I being niaive?

I don't really know any of the people involved in this discussion, and I'm certainly not in a position to judge anyone, so I haven't been paying particular attention to who has posted what. I just don't want fellow COL members to get into the sniping and nastiness which seems to prevail on some other forums.

I don't think anyone on this thread has done anything deliberately wrong, perhaps some things might be done differently if the decisions were being made now (maybe not), but the truth is that the dog concerned is a lovely dog, and a lovely pet, and has been given a much better home than it might have.

I'm starting to ramble now, so will stop.

Puppy farming has been discussed many times on this forum & while owners of puppies bought from such places (either knowingly or not) are naturally defensive about their dogs, we should still all keep trying to press the message home to those who may be reading the forum & may not realise that such places exist. Buying from commercial breeders/retail outlets perpetuates this miserable trade - as long as there is a ready market for their puppies, puppy farmers will continue to supply that market so all we can do is try to educate people about the right way to locate a puppy from a good breeder.

I'm locking this thread now as I think it has run it's course
