Rocco canned food. Is it any good?
« on: October 02, 2013, 11:30:38 PM »
I usually feed Yarrah to my two little ones. They are fusspots so when I was given a tray of Rocco food I thought they would turn their noses up at it but they love it.

It looks really yucky and I wondered if anyone else uses it. The ingredients don't look too bad.

I looked at it at one point, but at the time chose Lukullus instead (it was one of the foods I swapped her to every now and then to stop her getting bored). The ingredients look good and there's no fillers that I can see; the one thing I'm not sure of is the 'bi-products':

Beef & Green Tripe:
Meat and meat by-products, (50% beef, 20% green tripe), minerals, oils and fats (0.2% linseed oil).

Lukullus lists these as heart, liver etc so if it's the same as that it would be fine, I think

Whichdogfoods rating seems quite good:

Might look into this more myself :shades:

I think the Rocco Classic is one of the best tinned foods out there as it has no fillers to bulk it out - it's just meat and by-products.  By by-products they mean "innards" - heart, liver, meat, stomach, throats, so all fine and natural for dogs to eat

I have fed Rocco Classic before and will do so again - it suits Sherlock and his ultra-sensitive stomach, and he loves it.

(Lukullus is good food too, but unfortunately I haven't yet found a flavour that suits Sherlock's tum, although the food looks and smells good and has good ingredients.)

I thought that's what it would mean, just wasn't too sure! It really does look good, I'm putting it on my list for future use ;)
