I'm sure it will be for the best once William is recovered. Lots of love and hugs from us here. We will be hoping he is back to normal as quickly as possible xxxx

Thank you all for your support, William went in at 0830 this morning, so it's now a matter of trying not to think about it and hoping the phone call comes quickly to say he's ok.

William is home and looking very sorry for himself.



The Nurse has said he has to keep the cone on for ten days, but I think we will have to remove it to allow Wills to eat and drink, his ears  are forced forward against his nose with the collar on.

We haven't spoken to our Vet as yet, he was called into an emergency operation late this afternoon, but he will ring us later.

He has prescribed a pain killer called Gabapentin, which is used to treat epilepsy in Humans, and although it is not recommended for Children, Wills has an adult 300mg human dose.? The side effects are also recorded as many.

Something else to fret about, but at least Wills is home, and I  will know more later about how it all went.

He is looking well so soon after the op  :blink:

May I ask what sort of cost was involved? only I think we may be looking at the same op for our Harvey sadly

Hi Pancake,

I think Wills is still spaced out from the anaesthetic, which probably isn't a bad thing.

Things were so hectic in the Vets that the question of the bill wasn't established, but I think it was around £450.

I will post the actual cost when I see them after the return visit on Monday.

Since Wills had his first Vet appointment on 2 April about this problem we have already spent £208 on consultations, antibiotics, and fuciderm gel, all to no avail.

I will also continue this thread to the point of William's recovery to provide a sort of Lip fold case history which may be of benefit to others faced with the same problem.

Sending gentle hugs for William.  I have to say he doesn't look too put out by the lampshade collar on the photo, bless him.   Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery for Mr W and an end to the lip fold problem.
