I just swing it, not the best fashion accessory but I figure at least people will see that I pick up!

Agree,i swing my poo bag with pride so people know i'm not one of the disgusting people who walk my route and don't pick up.

Easy solution to not carry it in winter is double bag which cuts out all smell, but makes a great hand warmer in your pocket  :lol2:

Another proud swinger here.
No, wait. That came out wrong!  :005: Oh, you know what I mean!

Hi

Have you thought of contacting your MP and ask the question why there are no bins in your area, I'm sure yours as every other council would not wish to encourage litter and waste in their borough.

Mel.

a lot of councils are removing bins in lots of areas as it costs money to empty them - in may ways I would also rather they spent money elsewhere even though I don't like to carry a full bag with me

on our park we (Friends group) bought a metal bin, chained it to the fence (council OK'd this) and have it placed near the far gate of the park so they can empty it from the road. Also if they are bins specific for dog mess then its more expensive for them to empty them than general bins as they have to specifically treat these bins - may be request a general bin if this is the case.

I think since the recession we have to also look at how we can help ourselves with small things rather than suggesting/expecting the council do everything (volunteers also litterpick our park regularly, mostly its dog walkers who do this).

here too  ph34r :005:

There's a 'rubbish & dog waste bin' at the end of the field we walk on ... Loooooooooong overdue it's emptying .. makes me gag when I walk past it now, and it's so full it's over flowing .. which makes it pointless, so the last few times I've walked past it swinging with pride (as the saying goes on here apparently  :D  :005: ) I've just kept hold of my little treasures unwanted treasures and put them in the bin at home.

I do like the look of those 'poo bag bags' those dicky bags are just very expensive.

I think this thread has accidentally solved the eternal problem of how to spot a fellow COLer on a walk. We just need to get some T shirts printed up with "I swing with pride" perfect for Crufts too.  :D

That does seem to be a problem with dog poo bins, they are never emptied enough which is annoying when people actually bother to use them.

I can understand the Dickie thing if you are walking several dogs but seems a bit much for one bag  :dunno:
Sometimes if i need a hand free i tie the poo bag to the chuckit stick or flexi lead and a bin will soon appear at some point.
Then again,if it's countryside walking you could be swinging for hours  :shades: with no bin in sight.
People laugh at me because I'm different, but I laugh at them because they are all the same.

Before the council put out dog poo bags I iused to take a tupperware beaker with me when Jennie and I went on jaunts and sealed bag of pooh in it I still do this when Penny and I go on jaunts out of town but use a sealed plastice box now if going off road but she usually goes morning and night
Just changed this as I put the pooh in a bag first.

Swinger here too (off the poo bag variety).

My village bins are emptied very regularly, the only time it was a problem was during the masses of snow the other Christmas  ;)

I think in the countryside there is the stick and flick method (which I tend to go by) - even the forestry commission suggest this unless you'e walking in a busy area near their car parks etc.
