WARNING for Coler's who have more than one dog

Just thought I would post what happened yesterday with Phoebe and Mia as it really did scare me  :fear2: I came back from shopping and as usual they were going bonkers  :lol2: mia decided to put her two front paws on phoebe's back to try and get to me IYSWIM? I pushed her off and in doing so caught my bracelet in her collar mia pulled away and the bracelet released itself. BUT I then went upstairs to put something away and phoebe and mia follwed me, I then heard a commotion with the girls crying and carrying on so I went to see what was going on. Jezze Phoebe had caught her bottom jaw in Mia's collar and it had twisted so Phoebe couldn't get her jaw out but at the same time it was choking Mia  :fear2: I dashed over to them but I couldn't get phoebe's jaw out of the collar that's when I started to panic as I knew that mia was being choked  :'( I don't know what I did but all of a sudden phoebe got her jaw out and calm was restored  ph34r THANK DOG I'am taking this as a warning not to put their collars on unless they are going for a walk, from now on no more collars on in the house, if I hadn't been in what would have happened doesn't bare thinking about  :luv: :luv: Please Please Coler's take notice of this  :luv: x x x

What a scare Dianne.  I am so relieved that your beautiful girls are ok, and that this was just a warning rather than something more horrendous being told.

I had a similar incident with the tag on a collar getting caught in the training pen.  Again, luckily for me, I was in at the time.

I had a similar incident on a walk, where Isaacs collar got caught in my friends dog's halti head collar. We luckily managed to unclip the halti - no easy task with two large dogs writhing around, about to loose their tempers  :shades:
Mine don't wear collars in the house either  :D

Dennis doesn't wear his in the house as we are looking to show him and were advised it can damage his hair. With this knowledge, I'll be removing Minnie's too

yep, exactly why mine don't wear collars unless its walkies
these crazy cockers get themselves into all sorts of mischief that I'm sure no other breed could  >:D
glad you were able to sort it all out before any real harm was done  :013:

My OH had two German shepherds, they were out walking and playing one jumped at the other and got his paw in the others collar and it ended up with a broken neck. So scary, but selby won't let us put a harness on him.

So so pleased things turned out well, it must have been so scary for you. Love to you all

This happened to my sisters two labs while we were out walking over the fields one afternoon. I had to almost sit on the one who had his jaw caught as the other was choking and frantic. Luckily my OH and BIL were with us and my BIL managed to snap one slide of the plastic collar clip. It was one of the scariest things I have ever encountered and dread to think what would have happened if it had just be me and my sister. Neither of us ever leave collars on our dogs now unless they're out walking.

Am so pleased you were there. It must have been v scary. I was warned about collars getting caught in puppy class which is why mine never wear them indoors. That's why I have red dingo ones (easy to get on and off) but was warned about that type of collar breaking in puppy class too  :dunno:

What frightened me most was how quickly it happened  :o one minute they were playing and the next well it doesn't bare thinking about really  :o in all the years that I've had cockers this is the first time that this has happened and I hope it never happens again. I think the fact that you have taken the time to post this is great Dianne.  It made me think again, as I have been leaving Gracie's collar on.  We so easily forget, and would be mortified if anything happened as a result of not thinking ahead. xxx
