Meeting Col Members at Paws IN the Park Kent.
« on: September 22, 2012, 07:30:43 PM »

Have had a great day at Paws in the Park.   Met Nicola with Tilly and Rodaidh, Wendy & Bob, Kelly with her gang. Pete Preston and OH with Posie. Karen with Bingley & Darcy. Also Brenda with Abbi and Darcie. Good to see you all.

Bought Fish 4Dogs treats. Also have two boxes of sea jerky twists on the way. Think I could open a Fish4Dogs outlet at the moment.

Jessie did a round the Have a Go Agility. Dylan on the Heelwork to Music stand.

Erica.

Good to see you today Erica. We met a few COL friends too and saw so many other cockers that could be members. Bought Darcie a lovely Outhwaite coat for the Winter and a light up collar, which is lovely and lightweight (and matches the coat, by accident!)

Didn't really have a go at much as the queues were quite long and we wanted to get to look at lots of things. I was disappointed that I didn't get to see the stunt dogs though as that was one of the new attractions that I was looking forward to.

Good to see you all again - one of the things I love about COL is having so many "friends".

Nice to see you all. Had a lovely day and wasn't the weather nice! Which Kelly was there? Not Kelly and Hazel?

I thought the queues were long too   :-\ wondered if it was especially busy because the forecast for tomorrow isn't great. Also a bit put off by the fact that you had to pay to have a go at anything, you didn't last year

Oh and I were really pleased how Dylan did today. Sometimes with his poor sight he can be a bit grummpy but he was fine today. Even had a run round the exercise area, though Jessie was keeping an eye on him. He enjoyed all the smells, especially the free samples on the Fish4 Dogs stand ;)

Oh. Hazel is Bingleys sister and I would have been gutted to miss them.

Thanks to Erica for accosting me - by name! - and sorry I didn't speak to anybody else. I get very distracted at this show.

I didn't realise that Brenda was there though I was keeping a look out for Abbi.

We'll be there again this morning for a proper nose around the shops and possibly to enter 1 (or at most, 2) ring competitions. Posie won the one we drove 500 miles for so we're just thinking about her having some fun and upgrading her 5th place Biscuit Catcher rosette, or something similar. (I'll tell you about her failed rosette bids another time).

Maybe see some of you this morning.

We had a great day yesterday, I recognised Erica with Dylan and Jessie straight away and met Kelly with her 3 and Wendy and Bob at the same time but didn't meet any other COL members. I probably did see some as we walked around but didn't recognise them. I think it was national Chihuahua day there yesterday though, I've never seen so many in one place, mostly getting pushed around in pink pushchairs ph34r

We didn't enter anything other than Tilly doing the dash n'splash again, because she did it last year we didn't have to queue up for the practice pools, she went straight into the big one. They gave her her own Paralympic category :005: and she managed to beat her jump from last year by a whole foot, jumping 13 feet which isn't bad for an extremely arthritic 8 year old, the drugs are definitely working and luckily nobody reported her for steroid use :005: She loves doing it, she's always been mad for leaping into water and it's nice to see she still hasn't lost that :luv: Other than that we mostly shopped until we dropped; I ordered Tills a memory foam bed (which she probably won't use), ordered them a new Yap bed and a new Ann Rees collar in brown and camo for Ro, a handmade leather slip lead for Caoimhe, a ton of venison chews and venison marrowbones, 3 buffalo trachea and 3 packs of dried turkey necks, lots of F4D stuff including a new food storage bin, a really funky dog water bottle which has a rollerball top thing like a hamster bottle so it doesn't go all over them, it's in black with a dog and crossbones design and I think it's great, a few toys including a new Kong Wubba for Tills and lamb flavoured durabone things for Ro and Caoimhe, a tub of 480 Working Dog Yumove tablets for Ro and Caoimhe which had £25 off the usual price, a bag full of muffins, pies and biscuits from the dog bakery and just the one other slip lead... another purple one for Caoimhe... that's the 2nd purple one and 4th in total I've bought in the last week, it's an actual problem I've got ph34r :005:

My bank account notwithstanding it was a fab day; there were some lovely dogs there and I liked looking at all the different breeds, saw some gorgeous Great Danes and Newfies and lots of Staffies, Bull Terriers, Bulldogs etc. We saw a few snappy dogs, mostly the little ones like the Chihuahuas and a miniature Daxi but the only actual spat we saw all day was between two Husky types, some poor woman walking past got knocked completely off her feet by them but the vast majority of the dogs we saw were lovely and really well behaved.

Blimey Nicola  I thought I was bad enough.  :005:  Wendy remembers Crufts and my shopping Vividly ;)  I made sure I did not take any cash and credit card. So OH had charge of money  :005:   Was going to buy Yumove but reminded by OH the stuff I already had in the cupboard.

Yes we noticed that,  or they were poking out of their owners bags or tops.
We did not have a go at anything due to long queues, but it was fund watching others.  Did not realise that the exercise areas were for anyone.  We assumed they were for the dogs already entered into the competitions.  Know for next year.  We are going to make a weekend of it and camping there.

Archie managed to come out of his fleece harness as it is a bit big.  the size 3 is on the smallest it will go and still saggy, so we went to the dog games stall as I wanted one for Willow too.  They had a look at Archie's and said he needed the perfect fit one.  His is made up of size 2 bits and 3 bits and fits beautifully.  With Willows weight loss, she was better off with the perfect fit too so I indulged them both and am now poor.  They fitted mums Ollie up and took his old harness back and just charged my Parents £6  They were delighted.  They also got 2 fab water bowls for £5, great for them as they camp a lot all year round, lots of fish4dogs food and treats and a red dingo lead.  They also got his nails clipped and paws tidied up.  They they coat kinged him and tripped his ears for £8  They took about 30 minutes and refused to take any extra money off my parents despite their best efforts to try.  Ollie looks lovely.  We all had a lovely day, with great weather.

Nicola, my mum has had one of those water bottles for a while.  She really likes it and ollie loves it.  Willow had a good drink from it yesterday, but Archie won't go near it.  When we were camping, the dogs were having a good run about and it was quite hot.  Mum got the bottle out for them and Archie hid behind me with his tail between his legs.  Silly mutt is really scared of it.  Such a brave boy,  :005:
