Hi Ziggy I don't really think you can do anything else apart from what you have been doing and hide the sacks ;) cockers are little scavangers by nature <_<

I have the same problem with Wesley, He loves to pull the bin over in the kitchen at night and mooch through it. I make sure that there is nothing in there he would want but he still has to get everything out. Old dog tins are his favourite, he had to get them out and use then as teeth strengthener....the amount of times I have picked up tins with hundreds of teeth marks in there. I have taken to removing the bin at night now as I don't trust him anymore the little devil.

If I open a can of coke I have to put the empty can straight into the rubbish bin outside otherwise he will chew it into a thousand little pieces and I am forever picking up bits of metal.

Carrier bags is another matter. I can't unload the car, put some bags in the kitchen and then go out to the car for more bags otherwise he will grab the bag and eat the contents....he did that with a crusty loaf of bread....he ate through the middle of the loaf and left bits of bread all over the place.

As for tissues, kitchen rolln newpapers.....we just won't go there........

At the end of the day, he is my little boy and no matter how naughty he is, I still love him to bits  :D

One of my girls, well both of them really like to empty the bin all over the kitchen floor, then attempt to eat the contents.

So we empty it a couple of times a day, and when we go out.

One day, to my dismay I got back and realised I'd forgotten to empty it when I saw the remnants of tea bags a couple of apples and bits of black plastic all over.

We cleaned up and forgot all about it.

The next day, Livvy, who can poo for England seemed to be having a little trouble, squatting and pushing and crying and this went on for about 5 minutes.

I can't imagine what the neighbours thought if they saw what happened next.

I checked Livvy's bum and there was this black stuff hanging from it, only about a half inch, so I had a feel and it was black plastic. So I pulled and eased ever so gently, and it turned out to be a six inch peice of bin liner. When I finally got it out, it was explosive to say the least, what with the tea bags and the apples.

We did get her checked out at the vet and he ok'd her.

I laugh now but I was nearly panicking at the time.

Bin raiding for dogs isn't naughty - it is fun, productive and very rewarding!!!   They probably think we are ace owners being so considerate giving them such a wonderful activity to do in the first place!! <_<  :D   The more times they find something glorious to eat the more they will will be conditioned to try again - unless of course they get a bigger reward for leaving the bin alone that is!! ;)  B)

How about hiding some of his dinner in the back garden or treats?  My 2 dogs love to scavange.  I don't mind them doing this as long as it is on my terms and when I say - it is one of their favourite activities.  I also stand in the hallway and will throw kibble into the rooms for the dogs to sniff out!

My bins are fenced off at the back door - I don't have a kitchen bin as I know this would be scattered daily
