Rachel - wow Carterton! What a small world it is! We'll have to get Charlie and Sapphire together so he can give her some good tips ( and you can with me of course)  Could you recommend any good local puppy training classes?

Yeah - there are not any in Carterton that I found but we use a lady called Sharon Wilson who runs them on Saturday mornings in Milton U Wychwood (other side of burford) its about 20 mins away so not too bad. She used to be a v.nurse at Tremain vets but is now a qualified trainer and behaviourist. We thought it was utter chaos for the first couple of weeks and wondered if it was worth taking him but as soon as the dogs had all settled down and got used to it it has proved invaluable.

Charlie has now passed the puppy foundation class and we are now in the junior class and we have had a couple of home visits from Sharon for 1 to 1 training which were invaluable.

We also took him to the Puppy Parties run by Tremain Vets in witney (they will invite you to these if you are registered with them - the best vets in my opinion) and these were great too. Good socialisation for the pup and they teach you about things like feeding/microchipping/neutering/de-fleaing/worming/basic training/handling/teeth brushing etc. They are free and on monday nights at 7pm for 4 weeks.

Anyway Charlie and I are well excited to meet you & Sapphire now! He has not seen any other cockers since we got him except when we took him to Pets at Home and we met 4! We never see any on our walks  :(

Where are you in Carterton anyway? We are in Glenmore Estate. (p.s obviously dont post your full address on here - got to be careful!)

Rachel - is that off Swinbrook Road, where the football club is? If so we live just around the corner near the Community college!

Thanks for the info regarding vets and puppy classes. Someone else has mentioned Sharon Wilson (infact you might have been at the classes with her - she's called Karen and has a black lab cross who's about the same age as Charlie) so I will definately give her a call.

The vets classes in Witney sound good but I'm loathed to swap vets as ours have been so good. (We use Danetrees in Faringdon and they've been great with our elderly Persian cat) Must see if they do anything similar.

I've seen a few cockers on my walks usually down Milestone Road - so there are some around!!

Yeah thats it just round the corner. I must defo see that ickle puppy before she gets too big - I cant believe its only 3 months since we went and picked up Charlie and he is a whopping 11.5kg now, looking at the photos you wouldnt believe its the same dog!

We dont usually make it as far as milestone road living right up here. I have walked him downtown a couple of times and its usually an unmitigating nightmare what with him pulling me down there and people stopping to fuss him and un-doing all the 'sit to greet' training weve been doing!  Plus hes still too little to have big long walks although we have taken him to lechlade riverside a couple of times.

By the way is Sapphire show or worker?

Oh Annette don't go letting on that I'm a very unfaithful husband.  :D  You can say I'm gorgeous though as I love to be praised and yes I do have some really lovely children (I can also type, which makes me a very bright boy!) Love Archie xx
