Hello!
I have been searching all over for the right cocker spaniel and this forum has proved invaluble. My cocker Sasha, died earlier in the year and she has been sorely missed by the whole family. We have been given great advice by the people on this site about choosing the right kind of cocker and we have finally managed to track down a reputable breeder in our area. Fingers crossed, we should be getting our new puppy at the end of January, she is beautiful!
We would welcome advice from anyone regarding looking after a pup - we have loads to prepare now too! Watch this space........

Glad to have you as a member and welcome to COL...you'll certainly find all the advice you need here....have a good read through the FAQ section and that should set you in good stead for your new babies arrival  
Have you thought of a name yet??? and what colour is she??? I have a Liver Roan bitch called Buttons and she's 15 months old...I have to say that cockers have the MOST loving nature of any dog i've ever known.
Hopefully your wait won't be to bad with all the hustle and bustle of christmas the time will fly by.

Thank you for your reply, We are going to call her Qui-Lei (pronounced Kwee-Lay) My husband chose that name and we thought it was unusual. She is jet black and is so gorgeous - I can't wait to get her home with us, I am very excited!! I think that I am going to become obsessed with these dogs - they are by far the most beautiful and good natured dogs that I have ever known. I shall be keeping an eye on all the posts in the puppy section from now on - don't worry!!

Welcome to the forum.  Just wanted to say what a lovely name you've given your new pup.  I too have a solid black bitch but she has a more normal name: Candy.  She's the sweetest thing ever - hence the name!!

I also have a solid chocolate bitch called Georgia who is very pretty.

Hi Angelina and welcome to the site.

A very original name you've chosen, I doubt you will ever come across another dog called Qui Lei. Is she named after the Chinese artist and calligrophist , Qui Lei Lei ? If so , very apt for a black Cocker as the artsit specialises in black ink line drawings.

It is great to have such a warm welcome. I will be posting a picture of her as soon as I can. By the way Colin, my other half tells me that the name comes from a character in a novel he read once, I'm not sure if they were Chinese though! I managed to have her breeder register the name on the Kennel Club along with his own kennel name - which was nice of him.
