Rolo - Golden Cocker
« on: April 07, 2005, 12:10:09 PM »
Dog Aid Society of Scotland -

ROLO is a 3 year old Cocker Spaniel who is looking for a new home as his owner is working during the day, and he is not enjoying being left alone. He has been neutered and is not destructive. He does not enjoy travelling and is usually sedated for journeys. He is housetrained and would like a home with children over 8. He gets on fine with other dogs but has no experience with cats.

Here is the link  http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/dogaidsociety

He is in the "dogs for families" section.

The site was last updated today, so he must still be there.  :(

Yes he is overweight. Its possible as the owner is working all day they also didn't have much time to exercise him.

Yes, I thought he looked a little portly..but he's ever so cute.
I'm sure a new home with lots of exercise will help his weight.

Oh!!!! He is lovely!!!! AND I LIVE IN SCOTLAND.......PLUS, WALK MILLIE FOR MILES SO COULD GET SOME WEIGHT OFF HIM!!!!!!!

Only thing is, says "children over 8" in the ad. My boy is 2...would they consider that a no go????

Other problem is husband...said he would leave me if another animal came into house...could live with that,  :P . Seriously, I could work on him.....do the old "his idea" trick....you know the one...plant seed, mention now and then, wait for him to suggest the very thing you were thinking of...works every time!!!!

Have mentioned Rolo to hubby.....he didn't go mad, so there's hope!!

Wish we luck!!!

Will contact Dog Aid and find out if they'd consider us, given my son is only 2. We also have cats.....but I don't see this as being a huge problem.

Oh I hope we can have him here!!!!!

Have just phoned Dog Aid as I just couldn't wait for them to reply to my email.

They're doing a home check on a potential owner today...which is great news for Rolo, but bad news for us  :(

The lady asked me to ring back, just in case the other home wasn't suitable. When I told her my son was 2, she told me that  they would not consider us as a potential home as Rolo hadn't ever lived with a child so young before.

Anyway, whoever gets him, I hope they can get him back to a healthy weight.

Good luck Rolo....be happy.

That is brilliant I hope you can get him. Sound s like you 're just the person to sort Rolo out. Please let us know how things go.

Keeping my fingers crossed

There's no way we can have him Jane, Dog Aid made it quite clear that, although he is great with kid, he hasn't lived with one my son's age before. On this basis, we are not suitable for Rolo.

I am so sad. I understand why they have these rules, however, my son has grown up with Millie and they respect each other. We are obvuiously very careful when she's around him.

It's a real shame. He would have had a great life with us.
