Along those lines... are you able to write the contents of the letter, which they sent to you after you appealed, here so we can see it? Sorry if this is difficult for you, but like everyone, I'd HATE to see you and your son, and Bosco, suffer because of some jobsworth who might be taking his job too seriously. If permission has been denied, then they HAVE to inform you why - no other two ways about it - as like Penny and Shirley said, it implies it WILL be granted unless certain criteria isn't met. We all want to know EXACTLY what criteria that is.

Could you visit your Dr and explain how this has had an effect on you and your son emotionally, and ask if they would be willing to write a note for your housing association to explain that you are both very distressed and not sleeping, and that it's entirely related to having to give up your pet?

I am so very sorry, I can understand how you feel at the moment as I am going through something similar (in terms of having to rehome a dog beyond my control) and it's the most heartbreaking thing that has ever happened to me

totally agree, they HAVE to give you a justifiable reason.  I am absolutely convinced that there is a way round this, and I am sure that if we all put our heads together, this can be sorted out.

Definately agree with those  who've said you're entitled to an explanation.

Seems totally illogical that you part own the property and yet cannot keep a pet.

( Why is it that when we abide by the rules we always end up losing out?)

Are you aware if  neighbours, in the same position as you, have pets?

I think I'd write for my explanation and seek advise from the CAB.

I agree with everyone else. Contact CAB. You can email them Here. You have my total sympathy for the heartbreak you must be feeling. I hope this can be resolved for you. If you own half the property, they shouldn't be allowed to evict you forhaving a pet.

Hi Lou,
I've been chating to my sister about this as she works at the land registry, so she deals with similar things quite often. She says that you can go to an appeal board about their decision.. As you own half of the house, they cannot just evict you for something like this. they would need to take a court order to buy the house off of you, which ends up being too costly for them, so in over 80% of cases the housing associations back down. Is it Leicester housing association that your with? as there are LHA flats across the road from us, and over 30 people in them have dogs.

Alternatively, tell them that they only own half of the house and say you'll keep the dog out of their half.
