Hard Lump On Back,between Shoulder Blades

hi say a little prayer for my dog jasper and me,as tonight i have to take him to the vets,as he has had a half a golf ball size lump come up on his back ,between his shoulder blades.and i'm worried sick.he is nearly 5 years old,and has had a histroy of lumps 2 and a half years a go,but they were not cancerious.and did feel completley different.

does any one have any idea what it could be,and are lumps in cockers common.he has also started sicking too,and is a bit grumpy with my other cocker spaniels too.
he was my first cocker and i love him dearley.will let you know how he gets on ,tommorrow,as he has to go to the vets in a couple of hours time.

I'm so sorry to hear Jasper has a lump  :(  we had a bit of a scare with Bailey not so long ago, he had a lump too but thankfully it turned out to be nothing to worry about at all, although we still did, you cant help but worry can you  :rolleyes:  :(

I hope like Bailey Jasper is fine, we're sending lots of positve thoughts and praying Jasper is ok. (((hugs)) for you and Jasper

I know exactly how you are feeling. Jessie had a lumpon her shoulder around 6 months ago. She was only 8/9 months old. It was diagnosed as a histiosarcoma (think thats right). It was removed under general anaesthetic a weeks after we 1st took her the vets. Its wasn't cancer and she is fine now   :D
I hope that this is the case for you and Jasper. Thinking of you

Probably histiocytoma not histiosarcoma. Histiocytomas are usually benign (well 99.999999999999999999% of the time) as are a large percentage of other types of lump.

hi everyone thanks for all your replys,just to update you,jasper has to go in to have the lump removed next wedensday,they don't like the feel of it,so will keep you updated.

Best of luck withy the Op. - I've been through this with Barley.

They will ask you if you want tests done afterwards to check what it is exactly - they charge another £30-odd for this I think, but I reckon it's worth it just so you know...
