I was thinking the same as sheryl.
I have a dog with spinal problems and the first thing I noticed was his tummy was very hard and swollen I thought he had eaten a chicken bone at my daughters birthday party and convinced my self that was the problem.

I hope it goes well with the specialist and she gets well quickly  :-*

Hi, so sorry to hear your news.I hope that the specialist can give a diagnosis. Its bad enough to see your dog ill but even worse when you don't know the cause,it seems a little easier when you know what you are dealing with.
Loads of good thoughts from us. :bigarmhug: :bigarmhug:

Thanks all.  Jennie is at the specialists now in solihull.  She was totally not herself, and even tried to bite the neurologist!!   :embarassed: :'( :o :-\

She's checked in for yet another ultrasound, a full spine MRI and possibly a spinal fluid tap.  The specialist is unsure if it is back - her symptoms are very episodic, she isn't in constant high levels of pain (well it certainly spikes higher).. she walks totally normally and doesn't display the back arching as Sheryl and Jennyspin have described their girls doing.

It is possible that she's got pain higher up the spine (shoulders to head), meningitis is a possibility but she doesn't necessarily have all the symptoms for that either.

THe specialist was supposed to call about 11am and hasn't - I'm never sure if that is good or bad...  :-\ :-\

My heart goes out to you and Jennie - this waiting to be contacted with any information is a horrible thing and poor little Jennie is clearly not a well bunny  :'(

I hope that a diagnosis can be made and treatment given to sort this all out and in the meantime I send you and Jennie lots of support and gentle hugs  :bigarmhug: :luv: :bigarmhug:

Sweetheart, please don't worry
about her biting the healthcare
staff at the moment; I know that
sounds like aterrible thing to say but
put it in context ; she is in pain
and frightened and they will have
been through it all with other dogs.
I hope they contact you soon(which
they should of done when they said
even if it was to say they hadn't finished)
steffxxx

MRI is conclusive - it is a slipped disc, probably between stages 2 and 3.  She is currently undergoing surgery to fix it.  The baffling thing is the fact that she was still walking completely normally.

That is a good thing and all the better for her recovery.  Was it the lumbar 2/3?
