The breeder of your bitch is the best person to advise you here. From your previous posts, it seems that they are also owners of your chosen stud dog so if they are experienced, then they will be able to advise you on all aspects of breeding & mating dogs, including the need for health-screening such as annual eye testing/Optigen testing and hip scoring. As you live such a long way away, many stud dog owners will offer to have your bitch as a house guest for a week or more so that the "right day" isn't missed. You'll find varying opinions with the Pre-mate test - we have used it successfully but others have not had such good results. I would suggest your vet may not not be that experienced on matters of breeding since most of our bitches have not been ready for mating until after day 10 (some as late as day 16). Whilst some bitches may be ready at day 7, this is not common at all. They are ready when they are ready - every bitch is an individual.
