Hernia???????
« on: July 22, 2004, 06:22:18 PM »
Was just grooming Bailey and have just noticed a small red swelling at the bottom on the left of his penis, he looks swollen and sore down there and I cant seem to find his testicles!

I've just rang the vet and was told that as he is full of energy and being his usual feisty self that I'm not to worry and to bring him to the surgery at 10 tomorrow morning, but I am worried, I wish the vet had seen him as I wont sleep tonight at all :(

Do you think it sounds like a hernia to you and if so what will happen if it is?

Oh Maria,

I'm afraid I can't offer you any advice  :(   I know what you mean though about not being able to get to the vets - I'd be fretting too, it's only natural :)

At least it does not seem to be troubling him too much at the moment, bless him.

Give him a big sloppy one from Piper and let us know how he gets on tomorrow.

Good luck at the vet & try not to worry - hernias are not generally red & it could just be an insect bite of some kind. Hopefully the vet will be able to put your mind at rest.

These little dogs sure do give us a few extra grey hairs, don't they!

Hoping it's not a hernia , good luck at the vets, let us know soon as.

just back from the vets and she's hoping that Bailey has a cyst which has become infected, I have been given anti-biotics and a cream to put on it and to keep an eye on it for any changes i.e. size or colour, the vet has prepared me that if the anti-biotics dont work and there is no change in two weeks then Bailey could very well have a tumour which will need to be removed, so keep your finger's, toes and anything else you can think of crossed guy's that it's just a cyst and Bailey wont need to have any surgery.

Thankyou all for your good luck wishes  :D

Poor little man and poor you! :(

Let's hope the anti-biotics clear it up and it's nothing worse than a cyst, keeping everything crossed for the little lad.

Take care Maria,
