Phantom Pregnancy.....?
« on: July 26, 2004, 07:05:30 PM »
I think Piper might be having a phantom pregnancy  :?

Her 1st season was at the end of April and over the last few weeks her boobies have got HUGE

I've mentioned this to my vet on my last two visits and he seemed pretty okay with them.  BUT - the last three days she has been scratching the carpets before settling down.  Today she is carrying around her little 'chilli' toy and whinging a bit whilst scratching.  Also (and most amazingly   ) she did not want her breakfast or supper........

So, if it is what I think it is, is there anything that I can do for her and how long is this likely to continue?

Thanks for your help  :D

Piper's Mummy definitely doesn't want any babies - unless they are the 'chilli' type  :D

Abby was so funny with Piper's tail on Sunday - I think she was fascinated  :D

Abbey's a lovely little girl Michelle  :D

Hi louise
this definately sounds like a phantom, we have had a bitch go through it. Ours actually got fat as well and has tried to dig a hole in the kitchen floor. I must say it only lasted about 2 weeks, then she dropped the excess weight and returned to her normal mischievous little self.
Keep you chin up it won't last long

I think that they are a little bit more 'aggresive' while being under this situation. Am I right?

Actually, I have not noticed her being aggressive at all.  She just seems to be unsettled and is acting oddly - ie. scratching the carpets before settling down which I guess is her 'nesting'

is it good under this situation, to prepare a small place for her? What do you think? I don't have personal experience in ph.preg. as mine is neutered, and I only knew one person here in Thessaloniki, who had this kind of situation. She was rather aggresive, very nervous, and did this scratching thing which I also pressumed that she was preparing a 'nest'.

Thanks Emma - are you having Indie speyed?  Piper has lost a bit of weight recently and I am seriously considering having it done sooner rather than later  :?

George - sorry I did not reply sooner, I have been so busy lately I can't keep track of things on Cockers!!

I'm not really sure if I should make her a nest and to be honest I haven't made one for her.  Thing is, when I give her extra blankets or towels she just (sorry about this   ) humps them        Soooooo I'm between the devil and the deep blue sea I think.......

Hopefully this will all be over soon.

mine, even if she is spayed, she does this with the sitting room's pillows
I haven't got a clue, why on earth with these pillows and I thought that it would stop after the operation... tsk, cockers
