Hi there!
Well, our search to re-home a Cocker is progressing nicely!
I phoned our local Cocker Spaniel Club representative yesterday to ask if she was aware of any older Cockers that needed rehoming, as me and my 11yr old were looking to take one on. We have been thinking about the situation long and hard for ages now, but because we have a 12yr old cat, we felt that getting a young bouncy puppy was not a good option for us - or the cat! (We've had dogs in he past, and she gets on better with dogs than cats, but she is a bit older now!)
We are not looking for a show dog or a breeding bitch, just a family companion to make our lives complete again.
She was not aware of any that needed help at the moment, but put me in touch with a local breeder who might know of someone who could help out.
To cut a long story short, the breeder has a 1yr old boy who is possibly too tall for showing and may be looking for a new home for him.
She is going to have him checked over by a friend who shows Cockers tonight to see what she thinks, and if he is not suitable for the showring, then she will give me a buzz tomorrow to arrange to come and meet us!
We are so excited we can hardly think straight!
I have to try to keep calm though in case it all falls through at the last minute - then I suppose it just wasn't meant to be.......
But please - keep your fingers crossed for us!
