My hotmail account has been hacked

My hotmail account has been hacked and someone has sent an e-mail to all my contacts purporting to be me trying to flog stuff....... (electronics and pretty shoes in fact)

Anyone know if there is anything I can/should do?

If they have got into my hotmail account is there any chance they will get access to anything else?

No - I can still get in to it - and its not showing that I have sent anything

I do have a couple of e-mails that have "bounced" as undeliverable and friends have responded thinking I've set up a shoe shop :lol2:

I would change the password, and if it is linked to eBay / online banking etc, set up new hotmail account. Will ask OH for advice as he does this kinda thing for police (a legal computer hacker ;)).

Do you use your hotmail for msn ?  This happened to my daughter and her friend but rather than e mails it constantly signed on and sent msn messages with links to websites - it stopped once we had changed the password  ;) 

obviously some saddos have nothing better to do with their time  >:(

I have done in the past but dont really do msn....

Have changed the password so hopefully that will scupper their plans!

If you can:-

1/ Try to close the account down.
2/ Contact Hotmail and report the problem.
3/ Try to create a new Hotmail account i recommend Google Mail
4/ If you have any PayPal details on there, try to close Paypal temporarily and     
    inform PayPal.

My account was hacked a couple of weeks ago and the password changed.  >:D Hotmail were really good and it was sorted out in no time. Good luck.

OH says if you use the same password for anything else, change the lot as they will try your 'magic word' on everything!
(and passwords should all be different and never tell the computer to save them - We had all our computers stolen when we were burgled at christmas time).
