I saw this 'nature' Pedigree stuff in Asda the other day and out of curiosity looked at the back.. The main ingredient was listed as 'meat and meat derivatives' and then it said
minimum 4% meat...
which begs the question... what the heck is the other 96%??!
Pedigree is very palatable to dogs because it is full of additives and flavourings, much like kids like the taste of brightly coloured sweets and MacDonald's. I personally would not consider feeding it to my two, a food with such a low percentage of meat is going to be stuffed full of all kinds of fillers and unnecessary cr@p.
The other reason I wouldn't use Pedigree is ethical - they test their foods on permanently caged dogs and cats at their labs.
There are much better and much more ethical foods available, if you want a dry complete food you could try Burns, Arden Grange, Nutro or Autarky and for a good wet to add to it Naturediet or Nature's Menu are hard to beat.
