The Worst Afternoon Of My Life…
« on: April 23, 2005, 03:36:13 PM »
My poor baby Simon (I say that he is 5)
Managed to open our front gate, and got out onto the main road next to our house :o
Becki ran in saying Simon has got out – HELP!!! I have never felt so sick :( !!!
He was playing with his sister Ella on the patio...thank God Ella stayed by the gate and didn’t run out!
Becki ran down the road looking for him and I put Ella in her bed, grabbed some treats, a lead n a mobile. A lady had stopped in her car n  asked her if she was missing a dog and told her Simon had ran down the road, I didn’t know this at the time.
I ran down the road (couldn’t see Becki at this point) and saw a traffic jam…I just kept thinking I can’t believe he has opened that gate – the posty has a job opening it in the morning and I have no idea how he managed to cross the road…as it is very busy and they way some of the looneys drive round this bend  !!
Then I saw Becki, with Simon – kissing a lady to death (who thank God) had got out of her car and kept a hold of him.
I shouted of him and he came running and gave me a big sloppy kiss. It was the worst feeling ever! I picked him up and cuddled him all the way home.
We are soooo lucky that Simon is back home safe n sound!!
Sorry to ramble…I’m still shaking now  !

that happend to me when hettie was a puppy it scares you to death

it was a dark evening she was in the garden with the gate pushed to she had never opend it before i opend the gate to the road and some how she ran through my legs and headed up our road to the main road i was petrified i was home alone and didnt no what to do it was dark and i was on my own a car was hedding out to the main road he must have thought i was crazy waving him down to stop i was so scared he was going to hit her, he totally understood and put his lights on full beam he managed to get to the bottom of the road before her to stop her from going any further but she didnt atemp to she ran back to me to go up the other end but i was nealed on the floor crying calling her luckly she came to me i was relived i took her home and was scared to breath a word of it to mum i never did

from that day everytime i cry near her she gets really upset and gives me kisses and cuddles its like she remembers i think dogs have a better memory than people make out they do

Hi Fee,
I’m glad everything turned out ok with hettie too :) ! Will be thinking of you in the next couple of days – really do hope she is ok and doesn’t get any worse.
I suppose it’s one of those things, you never really know how it feels until it happens to u  - wudn't wish it on any1.
I don’t really think Simon understands what has gone on  , he had a very confused look on his face when I carried him home. He clearly isn’t aware of how lucky he has been, to come home without a mark – that road really is lethal, the police still haven’t take down the witness appeal signs from a serious car crash last week :( . My heart really was in my mouth, if someone was to ask me who would stay or run out of the pair I would go for Ella  , cos she is so forward and outgoing, whereas Simon is very laid back and this was totally out of character for him   – obviously too clever for his own good  !
I’m just so glad Becki was with me, and that the lady caught him when she did :) ; she told Becki afterwards that she had to stop because he was drifting towards the road.
Just glad to have him home , he means sooo much to me and he knows it  !
