I knew if I posted on here you would all put my minds at rest. thank you for that.

Louis mum, i'm sorry to hear of your loss, I lost my chocolate lab very suddenly a few years ago now so I kinda know how your feeling although Harvey had only been in my life for a year he has left a lasting impression.

I'm even more excited now about our pup, she's going to complete our little family

Oh wow, that's brilliant, Louis will be really pleased for you.

So, has your new little pup got a name yet?

I remember a locum vet mentioning rage syndrome to me when Willow was tiny. I'd never heared of it and it did panic me.

Last time I took Willow to my usual, lovely vet, she lay on the table totally relaxed without being asked, demanding a tummy tickle. She flutters her long lashes and half lifts her leg in a very sultry fashion  :005: She's such a tart! The vet said, "so I see that rage passed her by" It did amuse me. She is a solid red/gold.

Its bad really though isn't it that people label them like that.

I used to work as a receptionist at a vets and all the vets said the most worrying dog was a Golden Retriever as they 'can' be so unpredictable and will have your hand off with no warning.... Retrievers have been kept as family pets for years without anyone giving them a second thought.

Yes it is a shame but it is usually people who don't know what they are talking about who make comments like that  ::) >:(

3 Solids living in the house and never a problem

We also have Retrievers and have owned up to 5 at one point we had never had a problem with them. Its not very often you see a Retriever in the paper for it unpredictable behaviour

Likewise I don't think i've ever heard anyone say they have a nasty Cocker.

Going to stop worrying and definitely stop Googling !

The rumour used to be that rage occured in 'reds' and at one time 60% had to be electivly destroyed because of it........I have been around the show rings for 3 years never heard of anyone having it, breeding it or seeing it in the last 3 years. It is described as quite distinctive attack of everything.
Your pup will look at you with adoring eyes and cuddle up on your feet/ sofa and all thoughts of rage will pass you by. If you worry about all of this lot you will never get a dog and then you would be really missing out :luv:
Enjoy.
Did it mention owner rage when they open the washing machine, pull out and chew a cashmere jumper????? >:D
