Welcome to the world of poo eating cockers—mine eat dog poo, fox poo and cat poo and when they can find it horse poo. Have never managed to wean mine off the stuff so I sympathise LOL

Alfie used to eat it, but doesn't now. All 3 just like to roll in anything remotely disgusting.

One night Darcy my puppy had a poo on the gound he didn't eat it, we know he didn't because we brought him in straight away.  My dad was waiting until the morning to pick it up. But when my dad looked outside in the morning for it, it had gone. Something else had eaten it.  Disgusting. But so, dogs arewn't the only animals who eat their poo!!!  Something else does as well :D    <_<

I found this on another site recently:
Quote
This habit of eating feces (called "Coproghagy") is common with many dogs that eat commercial dog food. Why? To try to stay healthy! Feces are a highly valuable food, consisting of the dead and living bodies of millions of bacteria. They are an excellent source of essential fatty acids, fat soluble vitamins (particularly vitamin K and the whole range of B vitamins), many different minerals because of the soil in it, and a host of other nutritional factors including anti-oxidants, enzymes and fiber. The feces they eat is of far greater benefit to them than the product peddled by the dog food companies!

Even if this is true, it's still disgusting

I'm lucky that fern will only eat stuff that is cooked and as i haven't got a recipe for cow pat burger patties she isn't likely to be getting her chops round that!!!

She did spend sunday barking at my mum untill she followed fern to the car - fern pointed out the Mc chicken nuggets so that mum could give her one!! Sometimes i wonder what is in those!!!!

Poo from grass eating animals is good for your dog as they can digest the roughage better when it is second hand! But eating their own poo is a difficult one, my brother's border collie is a pest for it, she eats her own poo and my dogs if she gets the chance. We have tried everything to stop her but to no avail. Incidently she does eat tinned dog food, where as my dog has a natural diet and has never eaten her own poo.
