Phoebe is in the wars, she hurt her eye a few weeks back now and has had a few trips to the vets and a few different types of eye ointments to clear up an eye ulcer. We were back at vets on Monday as her eye seemed to be clearing up then it started to look sore again. They examined her again and they've basically told me to bring her back again on Thursday as if it doesn't improve they need to check it out surgically and look for a potential foreign body in it. They were also talking about suturing the 3rd eyelid across her eye to help it to mend. Sounds a bit icky especially as we saw a dog in the waiting room before we went in who'd had the same surgical procedure.
I have to take her fasted for 10.10am tomorrow morning. Her eye doesn't look like its responded much to the treatment so far so I'm assuming that she's more likely to have an op than not. This will be her first anaesthetic if she does and that will make for a very worried Mum :-\

You know I won't be able to talk because I may be blocking the vet from ringing up if she has op, and operations are the only time I clean up for longer than 5 mins ph34r

Thank you for your concern, they have decided to go ahead and take a closer look at her eye and I'm not too sure what they will do. Luckily it was my favourite vet who saw her, even though I wasn't able to get an appointment with him the other day. I think he could hear her barking in the waiting room, well lets face it who couldn't when she'd been at it for 30mins. ph34r. He knew she would only go quiet when she went in the vet room and as if by magic as soon as we were called she zipped it. Her bottom lip started to quiver when he picked her up and she realised we wouldn't be going out together. I'm now sat with both the house phone and mobile next to me but I'm thinking it will be after 2pm at least before they ring.
-
:bigarmhug: Hoping it is something easily sorted and she is home very soon.

Should not be long now. If you have finished cleaning yours, you can pop around mine, no need to thank me that's what friends are for. ;)

Hope you get some positive news very, very soon :shades: :luv:

Thinking of you both, the waiting is awful, been in that situation many times, hope its good news.

Turned out I was too worried to clean. I mean what if I started hoovering and the phone rang I wouldn't be able to hear it. So tried to restrain myself and just surfed COL instead.
-
Just rung vets, she's ok and I can pick her up anytime after 4pm. Needless to say I'm setting off now. Still don't know what they've done but I soon will do. :luv:
-
Thank god will both be home soon safe and sound, hope everything has gone well :luv:
-
Ah bet she will be so pleased to see you and in no doubt of how you will feel :luv:
Get well soon Phoebe
-
Phoebe is going to get lots of cuddles I think :luv:
-
Karen is having trouble with her Internet so here is a quick update. Phoebe had a GA. They have debrided her eye and flushed it all out. She has to have 9 drops per day and painkillers and she is to go back next Wednesday.
Glad she is through it and out the other side....albeit spaced out xx
-
Poor scone...hope she makes a speedy recovery :luv:
-
bless, lots of love and hugs for Phoebe and Karen :) :luv:
-
Have been thinking about Phoebe today, glad that is over, and hope she makes a fast recovery :luv:
-
Glad that's all over, stressful day for both :bigarmhug: Get well soon Phoebe :luv:
-
Ow that's sounds a bit painful poor Phoebe . :luv:
Get well soon
-
Glad it is over, for Phoebe and for Karen. Hope Phoebe feels a lot better tomorrow and doesn't mind the drops in her eye.
-
She was a good as gold (barking aside :005:) at the vets. I was told she may be groggy and wobbly after the op, then the vet nurse had another think and said actually she's neither. She managed 10 mins of not barking, not bad going in a 6 hr stay. ;)
She doesn't look much different to this morning as she has no collar on and they didn't stitch the third eyelid (thank goodness, that looked minging on the other dog we saw). They told me she should just have bland light food in case she vomits post aneathetic but tbh as soon as she got home food was the only thing on her mind so I gave her the light breakfast I'd saved and 30 secs later she was looking at me again as if to say is that it? so I gave her tea aswell. (she was fine and is still fine nearly 3 hrs later :005:).
The drops will be a nightmare as she hates eye drops so I'll need all cunning and stealth to give her 9 a day. Thats one lot 5 times a day and one lot 4 times a day but can only be given an hour after the first ones. Great >:D
She was alittle spaced out when she first arrived home, but within an hour she was fine. I need to go back in a week for a review, wonder if she'll now start to bark in the vets room as well as the waiting room? ph34r Hopefully not because distraction techniques so far have done nothing to keep her quiet, but the plus side is she's better than Penny who not only barks non stop whilst in the vets but squeals in between barks too. ph34r
Thanks Sheryl for doing the initial update and thank you so much for everyone's support. :luv:
-
Great news, good luck with the drops.
-
Well started the drops routine today.
I hope there is enough medicine in these bottles to account for failed drops as this morning I missed the eye 5 times and scored on the 6th attempt. She knows every trick in the book on how to avoid eye drops up to a nano second before they land in her eye. ph34r
One drop down, another 8 to go. :005:
She seems ok in herself and I don't need to worry about her painkiller tablets as she'll eat anything. :luv:
-
Yikes, that is a lot of drops to administer!
Good luck ph34r
Pleased to hear Pheobe is ok though.
steffxxx
-
Good luck with those drops ph34r and fingers & toes crossed that they manage to sort out her eye :luv: :luv: :luv:
-
Pleased to know Phoebe is back home and eating well, good luck with all those drops.
-
Rather you than me :005:
-
Glad things are going well. Poor you, at least I only have to put two drops a day in Toby's eye :005: (not missed yet but I'm sure there'll be a first time) >:(
-
So glad she is ok :luv:
