So pleased he didn't injure himself too badly! Can't imagine how horrific that must have been for you  :'( :'(

I used to keep Millie in the kitchen at night and when I went out but she could easily jump a baby gate so I got a taller dog gate. I put her in the kitchen and watched her jump over it  >:( >:(. But I could see that it was a strain and it hurt a little - she never jumped out again after that. Now she sleeps in the bedroom as has access to the kitchen and upstairs and downstairs hallway when I'm out.

at 18months old, from a health point of view, Harley is fine to use the stairs, its only whilst they're puppies and growing that constant climbing up and down stairs can damage their legs
you could always try a mesh baby gate that way he wont be able to get his legs stuck

So glad to read that Harley is ok, that must have been a terrifying experience for you both.

The stairgate issue has just come to my attention as my 5 month old puppy managed to throw himself over ours, which was a great shock to my partner and I.   :fear2:
Not sure if to remove ours completely or raise it somehow, I worry that we could have a situation similar to what you have experienced if we do not find an alternative.

So glad it was not more serious, wishing him the best in his recovery!  :bigarmhug:
