Pup not acting herself following second jab & microchip
« on: January 03, 2013, 10:40:41 PM »
Maggie had her second jab and also got chipped today. She has not been herself all evening and didnt really want to come out of her crate to say hi when I got in from work. Normally she would be bounding up as I open the door wanting to play. I've never seen her this quiet.
Is this normal? Should we be worried?

Willow was very quiet after her second jab, the vet did warn me she may be a little out of sorts for a couple of days, however after a good nights sleep she was fine the next day

My Willow was too a little on the quiet side following her second puppy jab but she was fine with her first. The following day she was back to her loopy self. She had her micro chip at the breeders but I was advised she was a little subdued following this too. I shouldnt worry, just keep your eye on her and hopefully tmw she will be right as rain  ;)

She seems to be back to normal this morning.
Just one week and we can take her out for walks in the big wide world.

That is great news!  They are a worry arent they?

Jinley was okay thankfully after her jabs, but a friend who recently had her puppy vaccinated at a different vet to mine, injected him in his back leg, half way down!  Every time you went near him for a couple of days he would scream in pain!

Jinleys was done into her scruff as all my dogs have been.  I suppose it is the same when we have an injection it can make us feel a bit rough for a day or two.

Glad Maggie is ok now. The microchipping can leave the area a bit sore and the vaccination can leave them a bit off colour for 12-24 hrs too. Be nice to get her out and about, won't it? I know I couldn't wait for Clover to be able to go out for walkies - seems a long time ago now though!
To know them is to love them.....

Im glad she is ok now :)

Bonnie was the same when she had her second jab and micro chip but i put some of it down to the vet as well. Her first jabs she didnt notice the vert was amazing and he played with her first and gave her some treats and snuggled with her and then whilst she was having some more treats he gave her the jab and she didnt flinch. Her second jabs she howled and then the microchip ive never heard her make a noise like it - but the vet was awful she put her on the table and stabbed her :( I wasnt impressed and i wont be seeing her again. But Bonnie bled after her microchip and she was not herself until the following morning.
