Alfie got Zantac from the vet after he had a horrendously burbly and uncomfortable tummy when a worming treatment didn't agree with him. I keep a pack for very occasional use when he has tummyache and can't eat a meal despite wanting to and it seems to work.

Thank you.
Just out of interest what was the wormer that did not agree with him and what do use now.

We have had a problem with Drontal and I am frightened to use a wormer because he was so ill.

It was Drontal. The vet always gives him Milbemax now. It was an expensive 'worming' as the treatment to sort his tum cost £82! This was when he was a puppy. He was given the liquid form until he was 1yr, then tablet form thereafter and there's been no further tummy upsets with it.

Interesting, thank you.

I have not used a wormer since the Drontal, which was about 18 months ago.

I had a faeces test via the vets 12 months ago and it was fine, I have just sent one off in the post to a company called Worm count, awaiting results.

If we need a wormer I will try Milbemax has I have not seen any adverse reactions on here or or other pet forums.

thank you

Jodie has Zantac syrup on a daily basis for her Inflamed Bowel Disorder we have used tablet form in the past, syrup is apparently used for small children.

Suits Jodie fine with either but really does help with gurgly tummies

Our vet prescribed Zantac along with something else when Ozzy last had a tummy upset - and charged us £12 for what would have cost us £2 in the chemist or supermarket.

I think my vet is pretty good, she said it would be cheaper to buy from the chemist.

Mind you I have spent about £1000 there over the last few weeks.
I didn't take insurance out for Ozzy, last cocker was insured for 16 years and only needed to claim in the last 12 months of his life.
Ozzy was fine until he was 4 but have been to the vets numerous times over the last 4 years.
