Feeding & Walking
« on: January 21, 2014, 08:13:06 AM »
Hi guys,

My beautiful little girl Misty is having her final Jab tonight & I'm wondering, when I start taking her for walks do I feed her before her walk or after her walk.

I was thinking after so she can do her business when we are out.

Thanks :)

Feed her after her walk. Her walk will give her an appetite and when you get home
She will eat and then sleep  ;) you can then have some 'me' time  ;) its great when you can first take them
Out  :D

Feeding before walking could give her tummy ache  :-\

Its so exciting taking puppy out for the first time although they want to stop and sniff everything
And you wont get very far  :005:

Depends when you plan to walk her  ;)

My dogs get walked before breakfast during the week (as I walk them at 6am before I leave for work).  But at the weekend/ when am on holiday, my puppy has his breakfast at 7:30-ish and then we all go back to bed, and we walk later in the morning.  Just make sure you don't feed her straight after or right before a walk.

Enjoy!

Thanks for your replies :)

Makes sense for her to work for her food.  I assume that the exercise before hand & after she has eaten will help stimulate her going for a number two?  I only ask this as I find a lot of the time she doesn't go after she has eaten.  She tends to go an hr or so after eating maybe longer lol.

I am excited about taking her out :)  I am trying to get her used to the lead as she jumps everywhere when i try to walk around the garden with her lol.  I have got puppy training classes booked for her so that should hopefully help :)

I will let her off the lead once I know she will come back to me :)  We have lots of places for her to go run wild :)  Im just worried that she wont come back to me haha...

xx

(I have posted a pic of Misty in the photo's section  :D )

When pups are having their first walks
they tend to stay close as the world is
all big'n'scary, so letting her off(if
it's a safe place) will be ok and you can practice
recall with a tasty treat :D
