Inserting quotes
« on: June 04, 2006, 10:30:25 PM »
Can you select a section of someone's post to quote? I have tried highlighting the bit I want but it still copies the whole post. So then I endup having to delete chunks of it. So when I just posted with 3 quotes in it, it took me ages!

I don't know if it's the right way to do it, but I just delete the bits of the quote I don't want to use, but be careful to keep the "quote" bracket things in at the beginning and end.

Well that's a lot clearer isn't it?

Annette, that is what I have been doing. Did make the mistake of holding down the delete button for too long and that is when what you type ends up in the quote as well.
Just wondered if I was doing it right as it seemed a long winded way. But if that is what everyone else does too, it must be how it works!

This is what I do as well.

A couple of times I've deleted more than I meant to & had my own post included in the quote!

I don't know if this is right, but I highlight the bit of the OP post, right click mouse button, copy, then paste it into my post, highlight it again and click the quote button....
The only problem then is that it does not tell you who you have quoted, which in a fast-moving discussion confuses things....
