I'm not sure I understand your post, but if the breeders dogs are not KC registered, then none of the dogs will be able to be shown.....

I sorry i will explain better.
I have been looking to buy a pup. and did not want to buy from the local ad paper. so have been searching for a litter, found cockers-spaniel web not this one and there is pic of a litter. so i inquired about one of the pups. and arrange to view the pup soon.
In all my excitement i forgot to ask a few questions. so ask somebody who has dogs to have a look at pic for me and give advice at what she thinks. she told me ask a few questions so did like are they kc and have they been hip scored and those type questions and the answer was no.
About 2 weeks ago i read articles on puppy farming and have been worried at what i would do as not being experienced i might think I'm buy in something I'm not and i would part with my money if i felt sorry for a pup which is the worst thing i could do. I am not saying that the one i was visiting is a puppy farm. but was worried that i traveled miles for a pup who has not had checks then a year or to down the line i am left with a very sick dog or something like that so have been very worried.
so i have just found a breeder who is local to me and his rep is word of mouth, and has a waiting list and all dogs are bred for temperament and after care is provided.
sorry if this is long winded hope i have explained better and confused anyone

Do you mean he is mating his dogs this weekend? If so, you'll have to wait a lot longer than 5 weeks for news as canine pregnancies are 9 weeks ;) Glad you have found your breeder. You did ask about eye testing/Optigen testing/FN testing didn't you?

Drea - there are an article HERE that provides lots of information on how to find a reputable breeder, one who has the best interests of dogs and puppies as their only concern........as Jane says; health screening is important, as is how the pups have been socialised, and what the breeder tells you about their dogs (working or show strain for instance)  ;)

Thanks for the advice and replies,
He said he would be able to tell if she is whelping in five weeks and let me know, I know it a long wait, I wont be until may before i have a pup. Yes the tests are done eye testing/Optigen testing/FN testing on his dogs,
Also read the link how to find a reputable breeder and can tick yes to the sentences in the first paragraph.
               so i am just waiting.
