The animal re-homing centre here in Gozo where I am a volunteer helper regularly use these collars and they get the 'thumbs up' from our doggy walkers as being safe and easy to use and the dogs seem to tolerate them well.  For us, it's the difference between  being able to handle a big and/or boisterous dog and taking it for exercise when  otherwise it would be very difficult to do so.  Personally, I have used one only once on one of my own dogs and later found she responded instantly to a harness instead  :005: ::)  so I gave it away.............

I guess it also depends on the reason you feel that one is needed  :shades:

Hi We have got one for Charlie, I only use it occasionally when I know he is going to get excited and pull like a steam train, it works well, but only while its on. If you walk part way then let your dog have a run, then walk again, it's fiddly to get on and off and you cab't leave it on. I think a harness would be better but he has issuea that make these difficult for him to wear.

A friend of mine usues a canny collar and loves it. It works for her as it calms her dog .

Another point about this head harness is that it's action pulls the head downwards unlike most head harnesses which tend to pull the head sideways. This means less strain on the neck.

Well, what  a nightmare, my new cannycollar arrived late last week.  Have only used it once which had he kept it on would have been great, Taz spent the whole walk trying to get the collar off, he actually managed to scrape his nose along the pavement to get it off within seconds of me refitting it.  He ended up with a bleeding nose by the time I got home, and I havern't used it since!   ::)
