Hamish Houdini
« on: October 16, 2007, 11:52:27 AM »
i left for work this morning and shut George and Hamish behind the baby gate,as usual Oh does shifts, so was in bed. they have the kitchen and the dining room to chill out in, at the moment we are in the process of doing some DIY, so consequently we have some of the living room furniure in here e.g. sofas, anyway OH suddenly hears crying and gets up to find out what is going on, usually both George and Hamsih are both very quiet, apart from the occassional wrestling match  what does he find, but Hamish over the other side of the gate, the little monkey ph34r had climbed up on the sofa and jumped over the baby gate, he had already learnt at about 4 months, how to open up the lever with his nose, so now we have to made sure the lever is firmly closed, if we are out shopping etc. his other trick was to jump out of the dining room window, in the summmer, luckily is only a short way down to the ground, because i had shut him out, while i was taking the rubbish round to the front of the house for collection. apart from this he is a little  George of course would never behave like this  his trick is to pinch things, which is why he is know as"Pickpocket Extraordinare" as clairep4 knows only to well :005:

When my mums dog came to stay for a week I think they encouraged each other. They were all shut in the kitchen with the baby gate on so me and my Oh could have soem private time. Next thing we know Sally came bursting through the bedroom door and jumped on the bed. Once we recovered from shock we came downstairs to find my mums dog stood on the kitchen table and Glen on one of the chairs.

I think they may have formed some sort of chain gang

Another Houdini here too....

Before Florence joined us at the beginning of July I splashed out and bought a Croft Freedom Puppy Pen  as it is nice and roomy and sturdy too.
All went well until 5 weeks ago (Florence aged 4 months). I put her back in the pen whilst I went to get dressed and she kicked up stink, barking and crying. I was only upstairs for a few minutes and let her out again when I came back down, let them all outside so they were comfortable before I had to go out for a couple of hours. I put her back in the pen with Meg (she acted as Nanny since Florence first arrived) gave them a carrot each and left.

When I got back home and opened the back door, there she was with Neneh and Halle to greet me!!  :o
Ok I think, maybe Halle has jumped up against the door of the pen and knocked the latch open, but as I get into the kitchen there is Meg still in the pen, locked in!

The little minx had climbed out and this pen is 27" high and is decribed on their website as Typically Used For :- PUPPIES, DURING WHELPING, AND FOR PLAYFUL DOGS  - thankfully she wasn't hurt.

That afternoon I took the pen down, and put back the large crate that was there before. When bedtime came OH tried to settle her down in there, the moment she'd finished her biscuit she was wailing like a banshee wanting to be back out. We knew we wouldn't get any peace and so we took the gamble of letting her sleep out with the others, and from that day to this (with the exception of the odd tea towel getting pulled off) she has been absolutely fine. Spoilt little madam got her own way - again!  :005:

Betty (5 months yesterday) taught herself how to jump over the babygate a few days ago - despite stitches and a lampshade. We tried closing the door and putting a big terracotta plant pot behind it but she still managed to get out so we've resorted to Plan B and raised it a few inches.  ;)
