Sorry for the delay. I was off driving into the middle of the friggen outback (it was to me) to go and meet the young fellow.

I took Rommel with me and they got on fine. I dont think he has been walked on a lead in a while but Rommel is no saint either when it comes to walkies so I had my work cut out for me.

He growled a couple of times but that was at the lady at the pound and not at Rommel or I.

A couple of hours later and a hell of a lot of limbering up to be able to fit in the car and we were off home. Rommel slept on my lap and Brocky (his real name) had his own seat which in my car is a luxury. When we finally got home they ran around the backyard for ages and then I put Rommel inside and set about bonding with Brocky. His hair is well overgrown and he is so hot so I took to him with a coat king. He was cautious at first but then loved it. I just did his head and that took 20 mins alone.

I was very optomistic and brought out a bucket of warm water to wash him with some natural flea wash. I thought he would run away but it was very humbling when not only did he let me wash him entirely but he actually licked me the whole time. He was a lot nicer when that was done and he hasnt stopped wagging his tail since. I am worried his bum will fall off.

Rommel slept inside the house and Brocky was in the garage which he seemed ok with after a little crying initially. I woke him up at 5am today and played fetch with them both. Rommel is fastest to the ball but scoots past it with the casually trotting Brocky claiming the prize. Tortoise and the hare.

There is no doubts that he has confidence around humans issues but its just me at my place so I will work on it. I just make sure never to approach him when eating or from behind. Rommel is acting the same but compared to a 4 year old he seems like he is out of control. Hopefully Brocky will be a good influence. When I left for work today I heard no howling or crying for the first time ever. They get a bit competitive when I come to play with them but thats only when I sit down so I just stand.

Thanks for everyones advice and support. I have had him at the vets and he has had all his shots and I have his sketchy history with me. His owners may not have been the best but we all have our reasons. I dont know what my plans are for him but then again, plans are for architects so I will see how we go.

Here are some pics of the boys. They look similar.

fantastic news  :D

he's lovely  :luv: :luv: and I love that last pic, they look so similar!

Sounds like you have the magic touch with him and that if he has any sense he will worm his way further into your heart and will have found a forever home with you and Rommel  ;)

Well done for saving this little guy's life - he really looks like he is smiling in the last pic  :luv: :luv:  He must feel sooo much more comfortable without all that grubby fur  :-\

Looks like he and Rommel could be best of friends.  :D  Hope it all continues to go well for the 3 of you whatever you decide.  ;)
