I was surprised too, but my mum knew about it before that's why we've never done it. When it appeared in the paper advising people to do it Mum rang Thames Water to make sure she was right and they then got onto the council about it. The thing is they don't advertise the fact because then the methods would probably come into question and the water quality would as well "If you can't get rid of that what else can't you get rid of?" sort of thing. I think when levels are low it's not so bad but if everyone started doing it the levels would build and our waterways would get polluted with the stuff.

OMG I never knew that   :embarassed: Thanks for telling me.  Do you use one of those bins that you sink into the ground and add chemicals to break down the waste?

There was a thread on here a while back about the doggy loos - can't find it now  ::) - but the overwhelming view was that they do not work  >:(  If I have to pick up poo, I bag it and put in the dustbin - if out on a walk in woods etc, I leave it to decompose naturally  ;)

Yea the doggy loos a lot of the time don't work at all. I do the same as Joules, using biodegradable bags (so I don't feel too guilty for the landfill) in the garden and pubic areas and in woods I move it off the path into a thicket so it won't get stepped on.

My little Nell has taken to eating cat poo from the litter tray. Yuck, she is now banned from the utility room, in the hope of preventing further feasting.

Thanks guys

welll at least that's saved me some money. :-*  I'll dispose of it in the bin at home - just felt that this wasn't right. but I suppose it's only the same as putting dirty disposable nappies in there !
