Could be a histiocytoma - they are quite common in young dogs.  With any growth I'd get the vet to have a look.

Hi Sarah, sounds a bit like the histiocytoma Archie had on his chest, it got much bigger and worse, before it got better.  I hope it goes OK at the vet.  :-* :-* For Toby.  :luv:

Kali recently had one of these on her leg.  The vet said that they usually go of their own accord and are common in young dogs.  Sure enough, as soon as I stopped Kali chewing it, it went within weeks   I am sure it is something simple but letting the vet see is best

Unfortunately we couldnt book him in till Wednesday dinner time to see the 'nice' vet.So we are still keeping a close eye on it,but it does look like its getting bigger and its really annoying him  :'( His scratched it a couple of times and made it bled.
Doris is reg with a diffrent vets (long story) and Toby could of gone to see Doris's vet y.day but I'm so glad we didn't take him they was so rough with little Doris whilst Micro-Chipping her  >:( she screamed her head off and clamped her tail for the first time ever  :'( He chipped her half way down her back   I thought they normaly chipped them in the neck

:o  Poor Doris.   >:( Nasty vet.  I have never heard of them chipping them on their back either, mine do them on the back of the neck as they said that is where they scan them. I hope Toby is OK, could you make him wear a snood, to stop him scratching it.     Poor boy.  :'(

Poor babies, hope Doris is recovered from her ordeal and that Toby Ok tomorrow.

If it is an histiocytoma, Louie had one on top of his head and scratched it, just when we got to the point of the vet having to remove it it sorted itself out, imagine inside the ear is going to be harder to stick anything on to help

This was my thread at the time http://www.cockersonline.co.uk/discuss/index.php?topic=23908.15 As I remember it was about a month between it coming up and droping off and the vet only gave antibiotics because he had scratched it and it was raw and sore looking and over the Christmas period so didn't want to be emergency later.

It took a while for the scar to heal and scab to go and the hair is just beginning to grow back (had to remember not to scalp him to avoid a ring of no hair  ;))

It's a histiocytoma.

And the vet said it would be best to remove it so we are going back on Monday
