Chocolate
« on: March 24, 2008, 01:42:27 PM »
Bramble has managed to do her Tom Cruise impression - mission impossible, and snaffled 3/4 of a choc bunny while we were out. It was us so high that she must have got up on the arm of the sofa and then stood on her hind legs.

It was milk choc. She has been a little sick, but other than that is neither up or down. I don't think she needs the vet, but should I starve her for the rest of the day?

I wouldn't worry too much. Max tends to find chocolate no matter where we put it. But with two boys always leaving odd bits here and there, not much you can do.

the fact that she's been sick iso soon is good Jools...but if she's sick again later then you might want to call your vet. My Neighbours Weim got hold of some Green and Blacks at Christmas (it was a christmas present that my neighbour didn't realise was chocolate) ...she was in the vets for 2 nights. However G&B is one of the most toxic, so the fact that its milk choc is much more positive

Watch the amount she drinks..if she seems to have an increased thirst then call the vet...if only for piece of mind ;)

We all know you're a bossy cow.  :lol2:

Thanks everyone for your replies. She appears to be fine but I will keep an eye on her. Poppy isn't that bothered for chocolate, but Brammie loves it and can sniff it out from rooms away.  :005:

Turkish Delight is fine, it's got hardly any fat in it and if you eat it whilst standing up OR in the car it doesn't count at all  :shades: :005:  I hope Brammie is ok, when Alfie decided to eat chocolate he went for the Green and Black's option as well  ::)  but because I'd made him sick it up straight away the vet didn't actually do anything when I took him there except listen to his heart and tell me to keep an eye on him for the rest of the day. Well, he gave me a few charcoal biscuits but actually said we didn't really need them.

When my two were treated for Ibuprofen poisoning, the vet used the very low-tech method of inducing vomiting; old fashioned washing soda  :o

Sadly, it didn't work (iron stomachs), so they were then given an injection of Apomorphine (ridiculously expensive) which did the trick and as it is an opiate, they had a very relaxed night, too  ::)
