Nobby - ex stud boy at Many Tears
« on: July 06, 2008, 05:23:59 PM »
NOBBY

06-07-08 Nobby is a very scared 2 year old ex stud cocker. He has a very good temperament but drawls with fear. He is good with dogs. He will need time patience and the guidance of a good dog to help him learn about domestic life.  So another resident dog is a must for this boy. He is a good looking dog and, of course, will be well worth every minute you help him.

PLEASE NOTE:  Ex-breeding dogs are normally best homed with another dog as they have usually never lived in a house before.  They are used to living with other dogs and learn faster with another to copy from.  This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead.  They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience.

To adopt a dog from Many Tears Animal Rescue you will be home checked, you and all members of your family and any dogs who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the new dog. If adopting a puppy you will need to provide details of training classes in your area. We ask for a minimum adoption fee of £140.  If you are interest in adopting please call the rescue centre between 10am and 4pm on 01269 843084. We are unable to return phone calls so please try again if your call is not answered or email us at sw.vanatta@virgin.net.

It was a bit of a late night last night but this chap came home with us on foster placement.  I can't stress enough how scared he is at the moment  ph34r  it's going to take a lot of time & patience to bring him around. He doesn't know how to walk on a lead and will bite through with total fear, although there is no aggression there.  He is a complete bag of bones and very underweight.   :'(  :'(  :'(

What makes people treat them so badly.  >:D  sadly i know the answer - money - but it makes me so mad.

I will try and post a picture when the batteries for my camera are charged.

Well done marbledmolly  :D

He reminds me of how Badger used to look in his younger days, without the fear obviously.

Poor poor baby, how will you be able to give him up?  Will be watching this thread for the photos, I really love the look of him  :luv: hope he finds a forever home soon  :luv:

Will you stop pointing that thing at me I'm trying to sleep. It's very good that he feel comfortable to lay in the middle on the lounge so early on.
(He did try and investigate the camera very closely - I don't think a photo of the inside of your nose nobby is really needed  :005:)

A well needed bath & grooming, some of this white bits are a bit whiter now, although there is still a definite whiff of stale urine on him  ph34r

You really get to see just how thin he is when he is wet, Infact if you place the tips of your thumbs together and the tips of your first fingers to make a circle - This will fit around his stomach  :'(  :'(

Despite what he must have gone through is a really nice dog, no aggression at all with the fear. He wants human attention and is coming over when called for a stroke. He is timid around men, especiall those of a larger stature, but i will work on that. He is ok with my OH, and is even going up to the kids. He's not bothered about the cats or the rabbit. All in all he will in time be a very nice dog.

how will you be able to give him up?

don't even go there  :005: Note to self -  He is not a keeper - he is not a keeper - he is not a keeper - repeat and keep repeating  :005: . Seriously when we take on a second dog it will be another show type like remy not a working, to keep the energy levels the same.

Edited to add - While he is with us we are calling him Dobby (aka house elf - harry potter). Can't quite get around calling 'Nobby' in the country park

Is "Dobby" a working type then?  He looks like a show??

Well done for taking him on until his forever home appears.

I'll have to meet you sometime at the Country Park, guess it will be busy soon with the kids breaking up next week.
