Cross posted from another forum where I posted the warning.

Have been to the show myself this afternoon for about 1/2 hour.   It was hell.   My husband would not even get out the car as, if he left it, it would have had to have been parked in the mud and would have needed towing back out.   I went for a quick look around as was supposed to be going back Sunday.  However, having been covered in mud and not even able to enter a few stalls in my walking boots because the mud was too deep, have probably decided to give it a miss (I only live about 3 miles away) the mud is horrendous.   If the rain carries on I cannot see how they can continue until Sunday!!!   Honestly it was awful.  I felt so sorry for all the poor dogs and the stall holders.

I arrived about 2.30pm and the place was deserted, they were not even charging for people to go in.   I came back to the car less than 30 minutes later with mud right up to my thighs where it was so sloppy.

It was all good fun and I wish all of you lots of luck for Sunday!!!  I do not know about wellies, I think waders would be more appropriate by Sunday.

If this is wimping out, then so be it, but I'm not prepared to spend most of tomorrow getting Florence bathed and ready just for this, it's madness.

I am thinking twice about this show, it has all the hallmarks of Windsor last year when it rained all week, it was horrible and I said never again.

have to say don't blame you - we were going to a fun show today and don't see the point in spending loads of time preping even for that to get covered in mud and probably rained on...

So sorry for all of you who've made so much effort to be there, perhaps I shoud of entered Lou - at least he'd look happy in it  :shades:  Imagine a lot won't go if it's a bad as this..  :'(

Latest update about the site ......

Showing today started late as cars are having to be towed onto parking fields and towed out afterwards, ph34r

Waterproofs and WELLIES are a must for anyone planning on showing at Richmond at tomorrow.

Will post further updates later as they arrive from my nutty flatcoat friends who are staying in their motorhomes this weekend  :005:

crikey Is that all cars? if so I wonder why they are continuing? If the showground is really bad I would have thought it was a health and safety risk? I really do not know what to do.

I know of two lots of people who are definitely going tomorrow and I've asked them both to text me when they get there. Dogs are admitted until 11.30am and I'm about an hour away so I shall make up my mind in the morning.

It is wellies and waterproofs and it's true about no wet weather rings.  :P

Wendy

They were holding a stewards meeting directly after group judging, but they haven't announced anything so I think that it will still go ahead.  The good news is that the cocker tent (4) is at the back and on a slope and apparently so my (rather wet) sources tell me that the inside wet weather rings for cockers are dry and of a good size, its the roads, parking, entrances and walk ways that are the problem areas, they don't think anyone with small wheels on their trolleys will make it through the mud, however they had diggers in after group to skim the mud off to try and dry it out, they had bark down but it was washed away, so heavens knows what they will use by tomorrow.

Good Luck everyone.

We were meant to be going today, but decided to give it a miss, more for the sake of the dogs, I feel its not fair having them in cramped conditions, and having to carry them around because of the mud.  I am disappointed as I have never been to Richmond and was looking forward to it :embarassed:  Last year doing Windsor in all that rain and mud was enough for me, and quite frankly dangerous trying to get around in all that mud, I just could not bear another show like it.  Anyway its only a dog show, there are more.    The weather not too bad today here so I think we will find a local companion show to support or help out at, the dogs are going stir crazy with having to stay in.

I too decided not to go, and agree with Wendy it's not fair on the dogs. I would have had to carry Florence from the car to the benches, and apart from going in her class that is probably where she would have spent they day - not fair at all.

I have heard from my friend who I was going to give a lift to, and she arranged to go with someone else. It took them an hour and a half to get in, judging was delayed again but she made it to her class and she has now qualified her puppy dog  so it was obviously worth her going. :shades:

Anyway its only a dog show, there are more.

Absolutely!
