Puppies and Baths

What is the trick to getting them to stand still in the bath and not dive for the side to escape?? I realise it will take time, but id like to start as i mean to go on - any tips would be good!  :D

sorry i could resist, Jade is just the same. Remy has only had a few baths really since we got her and slowly she is getting use to it - as she really dosn't like water at all. But pupster was a nighmare but then so far she's only had the one. Non slip matting is a good idear so they have some grip.

Yeah and a waterproofed suit!  :005:

i stood him in the bath and showered him down, didnt do his head, just his body and legs, and he didnt like it! Is it something they just get used to with age?

My puppy Charlie is 16 weeks & hates having a bath too!!! >:D
He jumps up the side and splashes everyone in the room ! >:D :005:
I am just hoping it gets better the more he has???
It is fun though !!! :luv: Hard to be firm when giggling xxx

I've never tried it myself but one suggestion is to smear peanut butter on the side of the bath and let them lick it off.  :shades:

I'm just a mean mum with a bath with handles and a slip lead.  >:( :005:

I started straight off with Alfie using Lee as the holder and I bathed him. We put some toys in the bath too  ph34r :005: and treated him intermittently.

By his 3rd bath I could do it solo.  ;)

My only trouble at the moment is catching him when he realises its bath time  :005: but once in he is fine.  :D

Never met a dog yet who enjoys baths. I just dont take any nonsense and get on with it  :shades:

I do that aswel, put an old t shirt on and sit at one end of the bath and use a jug rather than the shower hes only had 1 bath since i had him x

Small puppies I bath in the kitchen sink, older puppies I wash by getting in the bath with them  :005:.

Make sure you have a bath mat-stops them slipping and saves your bath from scratches!
I had to lure my last dog with a squeeky orange ball (she loved orange?! >:() and then bribe her with treats!

ohh that looks like might be a good investment.

What does everyone use in terms of shampoo etc, i have the puppy shampoo from PAH but wondered if there were any others that people used?!

Hi all this is my first posting I have a 18 week old called Archie and he loves going in the bath! Am i just lucky? his breeder did bath him from being tiny so this prpbably helped.

Firstly i wan't to say welcome to COL i look forward to seeing photos of Archie.

The more times something happens they will get use to it quicker, although with bathing you can't do it too oftern as it dryes out the skin and coat, you may just have a natural water lover  :D
