Hey All,

Thoughts for my brother, as he had to have his Lurcher, Indie put to sleep this morning. Some of you may know who I am talking about, as I have posted about here on here a few times.

I brother brought her round yesterday, as she wasn't looking good. He had an appointment at the vets at noon. The Vet said she was very very old, which we knew, and did he want to PTS her then or do blood tests to find out what was wrong, as he couldn't find anything from his examination, except her age. My brother opted for the test, to put his mind a rest, I think, and was going to bring her back this morning.

He took her this morning, fully knowing he'd more than likely have to have her PTS. And that's what happened. The vet said the bloods showed she had a brain tumour, and a couple of other problems, to do with old age. (he didn't tell me what they where and I didn't want to push).

She was a big girlie - Irish Dearhound X Greyhound. She was 14 and I'm told that's a very good age, as most Lurchers that size reach 9-11 years. Her parents reached 10, I think.

She had been fine, only showing typical signs of an aging dog. But she went down hill very quickly over the last 9-10 days or so my brother said. He said she didn't show any signs of being in pain in this time, and only started acting strange on Thurs, thus he had a vets app on Friday.

Anyway, please have some thoughts for my brother and his family (and us!). We all are upset as Indie was like our own. Especially as she lived with us (as did my brother) for a few years up until the last 18 months.

She was the most gentlest large dog I have ever met, and what a soft personality she had. She was the perfect dog for kids. We loved her to bits. I'm glad I got the chance to say goodbye yesterday morning.

Run free girl, we will all miss you!
