Measurements of adult bitch cocker spaniel
« on: March 29, 2009, 05:04:54 PM »
As some of you may know we are planning to emigrate to New Zealand.

I am just in the process of getting quotes for the shipping of our pets from Air Pets.

They require measurements of Gabby - for her shipping crate I suppose.

As she is only 4 months she obviously has a lot of growing to do so I cannot get any measurements from her.

I would be grateful if anyone with an adult bitch cocker - Gabby will be 16 months when she travels - can get the following measurements from her so that I can have a rough estimation of her measurements.

They require:

A. Length in cm = Nose to root of tail - tail excluded
B. Height in cm = Floor to top of head while standing
C. Width in cm = At the widest point

Thank you.

Trouble is that size varies a awful lot with Cockers from the petite to the rather more generously proportioned ;) Do you know whether Gabby is likely to grow up to be a big girl (based on her Mum and maybe any other relatives you saw?) or is she likely to be smaller? Probably it's best to go on measurements for a big girl as it would be better to have a shipping crate with plenty of room (our new girl arrived from the US in a massive crate which BA insisted on)

I would say she is going to turn out a big girl. Her mum and dad were quite big - and I would much rather have her in a bigger crate anyway.
