Hello, sorry to hear about the lip fold infection of your Jarvis.

A home remedy adviced to us once by a vet...Several times in the past I've used some diluted Biotex green suds (the kind that has the enzymes and is used for soaking dirty laundry before you use the washing powder) for hot spots of our Leonberger dog and also for an infected wound of my cat.

Worked very well for me in cleaning up the infection. You do have to use some clean water afterwards.

Can't blame you if you think it a bit strange though.. Perhaps some else has a different advice?

Have you got any tea-tree oil, Beth? A diluted solution should help - or even some TCP or Savlon liquid will help to kill off the bacteria until you can get Hibiscrub  ;)

I have some anti septic savlon cream, or dettol liquid, d'you reckon either of those would work?

I'm sure that a dilute Dettol solution would be OK to wash it with; use the dilution recommended on the bottle for wound cleaning  ;)

I think the Dettol would be the better of the two.

Hope Jarv feels better soon

Try Norris's at Beaulieu tomorrow Beth (the main one on the left going down the hill into Beaulieu from Hythe, where they sell all the animal feed). I expect they'll be open and they sell Hibiscrub much cheaper than chemists. I got 500ml for £4.85 there a few months ago. They do an even bigger size but I thought that might go out of date before it got used up.

If you're still stuck, PM me and I'll get some of mine over to you.

Just gave him a trim around the chops and he's very sore :-\ for a grumpy boy he was soooooo good, kept running away from my prodding and poking but didn't get stroppy with me at all. :luv: Anyway, i have given him a good clean now so at least he smells slightly better hopefully the hibiscrub will help as soon as i can get hold of some.

Would a weak salt water solution help ease it until you manage to get the hibiscrub   It will help take any loose debris away.

I hope he feels a little more comfortable tomorrow  :-*
