Fiona hope there is good news soon xxx  Fred has pancreatitis (not that it seems to bother him as long as he gets his meds and we try and watch what he eats -no more footballs!) and it is manageable.  I really hope Gari gets over this bout soon and that he is home with his Mum and Dad and the rest of the family terrorising workmen where he belongs as soon as posssible xxx

Hope your lad is feeling better this morning. I had a cocker a few years back who had acute pancreatitis, she was taken very ill overnight. The vet did'nt know what was wrong with her so opened her up, she phoned me to say she was sending a sample off  but it did'nt look good cancer was mentioned. Later that day we got the results- acute pancreatitis. She stayed in the vets for 7 nights they kept her asleep all the time and she recovered fully and lived till she was 15.

I'm just back home from the vets. I picked Gari up this morning as there was no ambulance available, and took him to my own vets, he had a comfortable night, but was still in a lot of pain when the pain relief was wearing off. He wasn't bright on the journey, he was lying down crying every time the car moved. :'(

They are waiting for the blood results from the lab and they should be in before lunchtime. The vet wants to open him up, even if the blood result does show pancreatitis, as she said the inflammation could be caused by a tumour. I am hoping she will hold off for a day or two to see if the painkillers work before putting him through surgery that may not be necessary. If the blood results don't show anything, she is going to open him up this afternoon, and if there is a tumour he will have to be pts on the table. :'( :'( :'(

Any of you who have gone through this will know how I am feeling, and anyone who hasn't, will be able to imagine it. My heart is breaking. :'(

ETA: Babushka, just saw your post - it gives me a little bit of hope.

If there is a glimmer of hope, you just hold on to it Fiona.  It could still just be pancreatitis alone.  I know where you are and I am heartsick for you :'(
