Hi all,

It's been a week since Moo-Moo had his anal glands out.

We have had a plenty of rest and he has gone from strength to strength and is now back to his little happy, normal self  :D.

Prior to the removal of them he was getting quite subdued.

After the op the first couple of poo's were obviously painful for him to pass but he has passed lots more without any problem.

We went back on Wednesday evening for a check up and the laydee vet was very pleased with his progress.

He is now on the Hills c/d vet diet food (to keep the struvite crystals at bay) - mostly the tinned at the moment while his bottom heals - and he can't get enough of it!

I am so, so pleased regarding his recovery and cannot thank my vets enough for the care they have given my little chocolate soldier  :luv:.

Heather.

I am so pleased he's doing so well. He seems to have recovered quickly, I thought recovery process was slow for this op. Does he have to have any stitches taken out afterwards and what does the day to day after care entail? Hope you don't mind all these questions.

Don't mind the questions at all!.

I have been off all week to monitor his recovery and by Wednesday/Thursday he was back to his normal self,  bearing in mind he'd got neutered at the same time.

He has been having Metacam and antibiotics - the antibi's finished on Weds and I am just halving the dose of Metacam as discussed with the vet for a couple more days.

I asked the vet if he could go back upstairs when we went to see her on Wednesday and she said he could, so we had another night downstairs and Thursday we went back upstairs to sleep.

I had been sleeping downstairs in the dining room and Moo had been in a crate at bedtime near me and the babygate had been across the stairs during the day so he didn't wander up them, like he does!!

The stitches are all internal and they all are dissolvable.
He has 2 lovely neat scars which are nice and pink   :D.

I was increasing his food intake gradually day by day and he is back on to his normal intake now - I bet his belly is saying thank heavens for that  :005:!!.

I'd say the key to the recovery is lots of rest - for me too,  as I've got nothing done this week but hey ho there's always another day  :lol2:!!

The only thing I am a tad bit bothered about is his fur growing back round his bum (it was shaved very closely  ph34r) and no doubt it will itch and he may nibble, but we will cross that bridge if and when it comes.

Feel free to ask anytime.

Hope this help,

Heather.
